Gary R. Alsteen Gary R. Alsteen, 63, Luxemburg died peacefully Saturday evening May 21, 2011. He was born November 21, 1947 in Door County to the late Richard and Marion Alsteen. On August 12, 1967 Gary married Barb Marchant in Duvall. He was a 1966 graduate of Luxemburg High. Gary was a lifelong truck driver, currently employed with Dedicated Systems in Green Bay. He was a charter member of the Luxemburg Lions Club and received the Melvin Jones Fellowship award. He was instrumental in implementing the Luxemburg Community Center Ball Fields. For 15 years Gary worked on the Luxemburg-Casco Football Chain Gang. His enjoyments included wood-working, bowling, snowmobiling, going on trips with family, friends and weekend getaways with Barb and the kids. Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Barb, and their two children, Tracy and Kevin Fager, Green Bay, Troy and Shannon Alsteen, Casco, four grandchildren, Kelsey and Tyler Fager, Trey and Tanner Alsteen, two brothers, Gerald Alsteen, Green Bay, Richard (Darla) Alsteen, Crooked Lake, three sisters, Nancy (Bob) Haen, Luxemburg, Patricia (Matt) Slana, Sheboygan Falls, Linda (Allen) Magle, Sturgeon Bay, nieces and nephews. Gary was preceded in death by one brother, Dale Alsteen, his father in law and mother in law, Robert and Gertrude (Vandertie) Marchant. Friends may call the THE McMAHON FUNERAL HOME, LUXEMBURG, 3:00 to 7:30 pm Tuesday, May 24, 2011. Closing parish prayer service 7:30 pm Tuesday. Visitation will continue Wednesday between 9:30 and 10:45 am at St. Mary Church, Luxemburg. Funeral 11:00 am at the church with Rev. Milton Suess officiating. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Luxemburg. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be established.
