Soquet, Donald J, Sr. Donald J. Soquet Sr., 87, Luxemburg died Wednesday evening, August 3, 2011 after a long illness. He was born March 19, 1924 in Thiry Daems to the late Joseph & Louise (Malcore) Soquet. On February 1, 1945 he married Laverne Romdenne at Holy Trinity Parish, Casco. Don & Laverne owned and operated Soquet’s Tavern in Thiry Daems. Don also worked at Schreiber Cheese in Green Bay for a brief period. Don & Laverne farmed until their retirement in 1989. Don was a milk & cheese hauler and was a Trustee for Tonet Farmers Cheese Factory for over 30 years until the factory closed, as well as doing custom combining for many farmers in the area. Don is survived by his wife of 66 years, Laverne and their six children and spouses: Donna Menzer (Jim Schultz), Sheboygan, Dene (Richard) DeBauche, New Franken, Donald Jr. (Carol) Soquet, Tonet, John (Linda) Soquet, Green Bay, Joe (Wendi Renkens) Soquet, Green Bay, Pat (Terry) Ratajczak, Luxemburg: 14 grandchildren: Brian (Julie) Menzer, Rod (Linda) Menzer, Tim (Kelly) Menzer, Dee DeBauche (friend Dave), Dan (Carol) DeBauche, Lisa (Wayne) Schwendeman, Jen (Laurel) Ettien Jr., B.J. “Brad” Soquet , Brenda (Matt) Noel, Paula (Don) Van Ess, Josh Soquet, Larissa Soquet, Sheri Gasser (Logan Kaye) & Stacy (Ivan) Fernandez; 14 great grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; one sister, Mary Zirbel; sister & brother in-law; Ruth (Stanley) Annoye; sister-in-law; Ramona Koss; special extended family member; Virgil Romdenne. He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant grandson, Wayne DeBauche; two sons in law, Myron Bader & Ron Herr; one sister & 3 brothers in law Josie (William) Vanness, Al Zirbel, Charles Koss Jr. one brother & sister in law, William (Mary) Soquet. Special extended family member Philip Romdenne (who lived with Don & Laverne for many years). Friends may call at the McMAHON FUNERAL HOME, LUXEMBURG on Friday evening August 5, 2011 from 3- 7 p.m. Parish prayer service at 7 p.m. with Don’s daughter & Pastoral Associate Pat Ratajczak presiding. Visitation will continue Saturday, August 6, 2011 from 9 – 10:15 a.m. at St. Joseph Parish, Champion. Funeral 10:30 a.m. at the church with Rev. Dean Dombroski officiating. Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Champion. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be established in Don’s name. The Soquet family would like to thank the staff of the Luxemburg Clinic, St. Vincent Hospital E.R. Staff & 7th floor staff, Fr. Wm O’Brien and Unity Hospice for their care and concern.
