Joseph W. Jossart

September 27, 1942 — August 9, 2011

Joseph W. Jossart Joseph Walter Jossart, 68, New Franken, WI passed away Tuesday morning, August 9, 2011 peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Green Bay, September 27, 1942, to the late George and Eleanor (Nooyen) Jossart. He grew up in the Luxemburg area graduating from Luxemburg High School in 1961. Joe was a popular young man who was Junior Prom King and Class President. He always enjoyed the life-long friendships he formed with his classmates. Joe decided to serve his country from 1961 -1963 in the US Navy where he admirably served on the USS Oglethorpe during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was a disabled American veteran that belonged to the VFW Post 9677. In 1967, Joe met his soul mate Cecilia (Derenne) Jossart at the Kewaunee County Fair. They pledged their vows in marriage on June 22, 1968 at St. Hubert’s Church in Rosiere, WI. Joe and Cece’s pride and joy were their three children Laurie (Jossart) Gehrke, Connie (Jossart) Josephs, and Walter Jossart. Joe had a strong work ethic and provided for his family through a 40 year career with the US Postal Service. He accepted several different challenges over the years including working nights as a mail sorter and days serving customers at the downtown Green Bay post office. These roles allowed him to build many lasting relationships with his coworkers and touch the lives of the loyal customers that he served. His thoughtful service over the years often turned customers into friends. Joe was an incredibly supportive father and a loving devoted husband with an infectious sense of humor. His six grandchildren were very special to him and he found happiness by simply spending time with them. He was also a loyal Christian servant who volunteered his time at the church as an usher even in the final weeks of his life. Joe was a true sports fan supportive of the Milwaukee Brewers and was a proud Green Bay Packers season ticket holder for over 35 years. While Joe loved to travel with his wife, he was truly at peace at his home in the country where he took tremendous pride in meticulously maintaining his lawn on his John Deere tractor. He will be deeply missed by his wife, Cecilia; three children and their spouses, Laurie (Chad) Gehrke, Sobieski; Connie (Greg) Josephs, Green Bay; and Walter (Kristen) Jossart, Kirkland, WA; six grandchildren MacKenzie Gehrke, Cody and Kayla Josephs, and Ethan, Grant, and Anna Jossart; one brother and one sister-in-law Gerald and Judy Jossart, Green Bay; one sister and one brother-in-law, Carol and Dave Malcore, Luxemburg; two sisters-in-law, Collette Jossart, Betty Jossart, both of Green Bay, his mother-in-law, Rosemary Derenne, Luxemburg, many brothers- in -law, sisters- in- law, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and special friends.
