Norbert R. Dorner

August 16, 1920 — September 25, 2011

Norbert Raymond Dorner, 91, Luxemburg, while surrounded by his loving family, returned home to Jesus and into the waiting arms of his loving wife Marian on Sunday, September 25, 2011. He was born to the late Joseph and Katherine Dorner on August 16, 1920. On June 10, 1944 he married Marian A. Kust at St. Joseph’s Church, Pilsen. She preceded him in death June 23, 2005. Norbert was a member of the Men’s Catholic Order of Foresters. Norbert’s greatest accomplishment in life was his family of 14 children, 33 grand children and 34 great-grand children and his beloved dog Penny. Norbie always enjoyed his fishing and hunting weekends with family and friends up North in Fence. His greatest past time was playing cards, especially on Tuesday afternoons with his card buddies. We will miss his unique sense of humor and how proud he was to tell everyone how he had seven sons and they each have a sister. He will be sadly missed by son, David (Mary Ann) Dorner, granddaughter, Joy (Matt) Judkins and their children, Riley, Hannah and Noah; son Dale (Elaine) Dorner, granddaughter, Tammy Dorner and her children, Brittany and Tiffany, granddaughter, Susie Tappa and her daughter, Cassandra, grandson Andy (Julie) Dorner and their children, Kyle, Brady and Gavin; daughter, Kathy (and the late Ken) DeGrave, grandson, Kerry (Kelly) DeGrave and their children, Kyle, Kendalyn, Kearstyn, Kolten and Kash, grandson, Kevin (Jenny) DeGrave and their children, Lauren and Carter; daughter, Marilyn (Dan) DeGrand, granddaughter, Deneen (Kevin) Schweiner and their children, Morgan and Brennan, granddaughter, Jody (Darrel) Duckart and their children, Travis and Ashley, grandson, Todd (Kelley) DeGrand and their children, Owen and Ellah; daughter, Kristen (Mark) Allen, grandsons, Scott (special friend Kimberly) Allen, Chad Allen and Patrick (Andrea) Allen; son, Mark (Cheryl) Dorner, grandson, Tony Dorner and his daughter Delia, granddaughter, Lisa Dorner and her daughter Alexis; son, Gregory (Diane) Dorner, granddaughter, Shawn (Brian) Bartels and their children, Jacob, Carissa and Danica, granddaughter, Wendy (Lee) Charles and their children Brandon and Jenna; son Douglas (Cyndi) Dorner, grandson, Eric Dorner and his children, Tanner, Brendan and Layton, granddaughter, Stacy (Ben) Detjen and their children Mikayla and Dylan; son, Kevin (Diana) Dorner, grandson Matthew (Stefanie) Dorner, granddaughter, Amanda (fiancé Jeff) Dorner, grandson Justin Dorner; daughter, Cheryl Dorner, granddaughter, Christina Vandenhouten, grandson, Jason Vandenhouten; son, Patrick (Carrie) Dorner, grandson, Adam Dorner, grandson, Nathan (fiancé Brandi) Dorner; daughter Dawn (Brian) Rabas, grandsons, Michael and Brent Rabas; daughter, Lisa (Gerry) Spude, grandsons, Tyler and Zachary Spude; daughter Amy (Joe) Peters, grandsons, Alex and Evan Zellner, Eric and Ian Peters; sister-in-law Anna Mae Dorner; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ken (Eloise) Kust and John Frisque, Grace Ledvina, Elaine (Robert) Dorner, Beverly (Harold) Paye, Diane (Jim) Brezinski, and Shirley Kust. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law Joseph and Ella Kust; two grandsons, Daniel DeGrand, Jr. and Spencer Spude; son-in-law Ken DeGrave; brothers and sisters-in-law, Joseph and Olive Dorner, Clem and Geraldine Dorner, Roman Dorner and Urban and Marie Dorner. Sisters and brothers-in-law, Milton and Margaret Thibaudeau, Alois and Martha Arendt, Leo and Anna Seidl, and Antoine and Verna Zellner. Brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Roger Kust, Milos Ledvina and Rosella Frisque. Friends may call at St. Mary Catholic Church, Luxemburg 3 to 7:45 p.m. Tuesday, September 27, 2011, and after 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. Closing Parish prayer service 7:45 p.m. Tuesday led by Rev. Milton Suess. Funeral 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at the church with Rev. Milton Suess officiating. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Luxemburg. McMAHON FUNERAL HOME, LUXEMBURG is assisting the Dorner Family. . The family would like to thank Dr. Mark Kroll for all of his care and concern for our Dad and all of the wonderful staff at Odd Fellow Home who took care of Dad during his short stay there.
