Ray E. Liebl Ray E. Liebl, 93, Luxemburg died Saturday evening October 22, 2011 at St. Vincent Hospital, Green Bay. He was born in Blenker Wisconsin on December 13, 1917 to the late Louis and Mary (Arendt) Liebl. On February 20, 1943 Ray married Eldora “DoDo” V. Kerst in Green Bay. He served in the U.S. Army between 1941 and 1945, and was a member and past president of the American Legion Ralph Kline Post 262 in Luxemburg. After his honorable discharge from the Army he was employed with Sell’s Garage in Luxemburg, later working 25 plus years as the bookkeeper at McMahon’s of Luxemburg. He was an active member and past president of the Luxemburg Chamber of Commerce, receiving the man of the year award in 1997, held the position of village clerk from 1953 to 1967, a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and sang in the choir for many years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, served on the Kewaunee County Health Board, drove for Elderly Services and volunteered for the Kewaunee County Historical Society. He was actively involved as a facilitator for the creative writing course in the Learning and Retirement Program of Green Bay. While on the village board he was instrumental in the recycling program, the neighborhood watch program, and in 1997 he over saw the tree planting program, resulting in over 90 more trees blanketing the village of Luxemburg. Survivors include his wife of 68 years, DoDo, and their children, Scott (Maureen O’Connor) Liebl, Oconto Falls, Brad Liebl, Cape Town South Africa, Pam (Rob) Belden, Waterford, Peggy (Larry) Schutte, Grapevine Texas, eight grandchildren, Ryan, Aubrie, Ciara, Libby, Danny, Lauren, Meghan and Rachel, one nephew and two nieces further survive him. Ray was preceded in death by, one son, Danny Liebl, two brothers and one sister, Edgar (Marie) Liebl, John Liebl and Ethel Liebl. Friends may call at St. Mary Church, Luxemburg 9:00 am to 10:45 am Thursday October 27, 2011. Funeral 11:00 am Thursday at the church with Rev. Milton Suess officiating. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Luxemburg with full military rites at graveside. McMAHON FUNERAL HOME, LUXEMBURG is assisting the Liebl Family.
