Rose C. Granius

Rose C. Granius Rose C. Granius, 97, Brussels, passed away peacefully early Friday morning November 4, 2011 at Anna’s House CBRF in New Franken. She was born on August 18, 1914 in Duval to the late Jule and Mary (Jeanquart) Marchant. On June 03, 1937 Rose married Louis J. Granius at St. Francis DePaul Church in Duval. He preceded her in death March 11, 1973. Together they operated a dairy farm in Namur most of their life. They loved their Belgain heritage, the trip to Europe with the Belgain Club as well as speaking the language. She made the best Belgian rice pie and was a great cook. Rose loved to sew, play cards and spend time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She hosted a great personality and a wonderful frame of mind, which we will all miss very much. Survivors include her three children, Gerald (Jean) Granius, Brussels, Leland “Lee” (Laurel Marquardt), New Franken, Sandra “Sandy” (David) Barta, Champion, five grandchildren, Lisa (special friend Mike) Alexander, Sherri (Greg) Dantoin, Tracy (Mike) Bertrand, Janel (special friend Dustin) Barta, Stacie (fiancé Bruce Orlikowski) Barta, five great-grandchildren, two sisters, Lucy Jauquet and Gladys Bouche, both of New Franken, two sisters in law, Beatrice Marchant, Brussels, Evelyn Granius, Algoma, nieces and nephews. Rose was preceded in death by four brothers, Robert (Gertrude) Marchant, Willard Marchant, Lester (Germaine) Marchant, Melvin (Joyce) Marchant, one sister and three brothers-in law, Doris (Clarence) DeWitt, John Jauquet, Leonard Bouche, six brothers-in-law and five sisters-in-law, Henry (Mamie) Granius, Frank (Sarah) Granius, Melvin Granius, Nora (George) Prevost, Mary (Bill) Neuville, Lucy (Clarence) Delfosse. Friends may call at McMAHON FUNERAL HOME, LUXEMBURG, 1:00 to 4:00 pm Sunday November 6, 2011. Closing parish prayer service 4:00 pm. Sunday. Visitation will continue between 9:30 and 10:15 am Monday at St. Francis Xavier Church, Brussels. Funeral 10:30 am at the church with Rev. Pius Cotter officiating. Burial in St. Mary of the Snow Cemetery Namur. A special note of thanks is extended to the caring staff of Anna’s House in New Franken for taking such great care of our Mother. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be established in Rose’s name.
