Elmer G. Christoff Elmer G. Christoff, 86, Luxemburg died Sunday morning, April 15, 2012. He was born March 31, 1926 in the Town of Luxemburg to the late George and Adela (Wessel) Christoff. Elmer graduated from St. Mary Catholic School and was a 1943 graduate of Luxemburg High School. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Luxemburg, serving as an Usher for 52 years, a member of the Holy Name Society, St. Mary’s Catholic Order of Foresters Ct. #1065, a member of the Knights of Columbus Luxemburg Council # 1186. Elmer proudly served his country in the United States Navy, during WWII in the Pacific War Theater on the LST #1034 and #1065. He was a member of the American Legion Ralph Kline Post #262, Luxemburg and the Veteran’s of Foreign War Post #9677 of Bellevue. He was employed at Pauly Cheese Co, Green Bay, as well as a maintenance man for the Town of Luxemburg and a courier for the Bank of Luxemburg. Elmer enjoyed working his farm land, gardening, taking trips, the retired group lunches with friends from Pauly Cheese, grandchildren’s school activities, telling jokes, his English Border Collies and Rex his lab. On May 21, 1949 Elmer married the love of his life, Verna Wessely at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Pilsen. They celebrated 62 years of married life and were blessed with five children whom he was very proud of. Tom (Judy) Christoff, Green Bay, Dr. Kathleen DeJardin, Arlington VA. Jim (Nancy) Christoff, Luxemburg, Nancy (Arthur) Hass, Diane (Bruce) Beecroft, all of Little Chute, seven grandchildren, Melanie DeJardin, Jennifer (John) Jacques, Brian (Bethany) Christoff, Stacy (Eric) Bartelson, Sarah (fiancé Dan Peterson) Christoff, Laura Christoff, Matthew Christoff, four great-grandchildren, Alex DeJardin, Katie and Grace Jacques, Maxwell Christoff, one sister and one brother in law, Christine and Ed Eckert, AZ, one brother and two sisters in law, Donald and Blanche Christoff, Abrams, Rita Christoff, Luxemburg, three brothers in law, Joseph Wessely, Pilsen, Dan Wessely, CA., Marcellus Bricco, New London, many nieces and nephews. Elmer was preceded in death by his parents, George and Adela Christoff, one brother, Walter Christoff, one sister, Joan Christoff, his father in law and mother in law, Matt and Rose Wessely, three sisters in law, Audrey Bricco, Eleanore Wessely and Ruth Wessely. Friends may call at the McMAHON FUNERAL HOME, LUXEMBURG, 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday, April 19, 2012. American Legion Ralph Kline Post 262 Memorial Service 6:30 pm. Parish prayer service 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue between 9:30 and 10:45 am Friday at St. Mary Church, Luxemburg. Funeral 11:00 am Friday at the Church, with Rev. Milton Suess. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Luxemburg with complete Military Honors at Graveside.
