Aloysius “Al” J. Boucher Aloysius “Al” J. Boucher passed away peacefully at home with his family at his side on May 20, 2012, after a courageous 18-month battle with leukemia. He was born in Thiry Daems on May 13, 1939 to the late Joseph Jr. and Hazel (Vandevelde) Boucher. He was an altar boy at St. Odile Church in Thiry Daems and at the Chapel in Robinsonville until he got married. Al married Joyce Srnka on May 21, 1960 at St. Peter Church in Lincoln. He grew up on his parents’ farm and then lived in Green Bay from 1960 until 1972, when he moved to his hobby farm with his wife and daughters. Al especially enjoyed working the land. He was proud to display the sign on his barn that read “Al Boucher & Daughters”. He worked in Green Bay at Fairmont/Kemps and then at Algoma Hardwoods until his retirement in 2002. He loved to make people smile and laugh while sharing his wonderful sense of humor. Al also enjoyed bowling, playing cards, especially Cuyoo, going out for Friday fish fries, being a dedicated fan of L-C Spartans girls basketball, the Packers, and the Brewers. He openly shared his faith in God with others. Most of all, he treasured spending time with his family. He was an awesome Husband, Dad, Grandpa and Great-Grandpa. He is survived by his wife, Joyce; (one day shy of sharing 52 years together) their three daughters, Tammy (Jerry) Barta, Rio Creek; Debbie (special friend Dave) Haumschild, Casco; Barb (Greg) Mleziva, Pilsen; nine grandchildren, Andy (Allison) Barta; Adam (Amanda L.) Barta; Jake (Amanda J.) Barta; Jackie (Nick Bradley) Mleziva; Danny (Sara Cisler) Haumschild; Kim (Craig Heim) Mleziva, Sam Barta; Ashley (Aaron Zellner) Haumschild; Shelly Mleziva; two Great-Grandchildren, Clayton Barta and Vivian Barta; one sister who is also his Godmother, Bernice (Milton) Massey, Algoma; two sisters-in-law, Rose Boucher; Rosemary Boucher both of Green Bay; one brother-in-law, Edwin DeChamps, Champion; Joyce’s siblings, John Jr. (Elaine) Srnka, Algoma; Janice (Wayne) Dantoin, Sturgeon Bay; Judy (Ron) Wery, Sugarbush; Jane (Bob) Barta, New Franken; Jerry (Judy) Srnka, Algoma; many nieces, nephews and close friends, including his Godchildren Dave, Lynn, Rhonda, Brian, and Cheryl. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers Gaylord, Linus and Archie; one sister, Angela DeChamps, his father-in-law and his mother-in-law John Sr. and Cora Srnka. Friends may call at the McMAHON FUNERAL HOME, LUXEMBURG, 3:00 to 8:00 pm. Wednesday, May 23, 2012. Parish prayer service 7:30 pm. Visitation will continue Thursday the 24th between 9:15 and 10:15 am at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Sugarbush. Funeral 10:30 am Thursday at the church with Rev. William O’Brien officiating. Burial in St. Odile Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established. Words cannot express our gratitude to Father O’Brien, the staff of Green Bay Oncology, St Vincent and St. Mary Hospitals, and Southern Care Hospice including his special girl, Jackie.
