Norman J. Vandenhouten

Norman VandenHouten Norman J. Vandenhouten, 95, Dyckesville died Saturday evening June 09, 2012 at a local hospital following a short illness. He was born in Tonet to the late Joseph and Anna (Denis) Vandenhouten on March 26, 1917. On November 25, 1941 he married Martha M. Cravillion at St. Martin Church, Tonet. She preceded him in death October 12, 2002. He was always interested in farming, often taking a ride to see the crops and farmers tending to their fields. Even at the age of 95 Norman himself was still farming. His Belgian heritage was very important to him, often speaking the language while visiting. Survivors include his children, Karen Smith, Casco; Neil and Dawn Vandenhouten, Milwaukee; Tom Vandenhouten, Dyckesville; Chris and Tom Zellner, Luxemburg; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; one sister, Gladys Nellis, Dyckesville; nieces and nephews further survive him. Norman was preceded in death by, one son, Al Vandenhouten, one grandchild, Joy Vandenhouten, one son-in-law, Bob Smith Sr., two brothers, Norman and Irvin (LaVerne) Vandenhouten, one sister & two brothers-in- law, Mayme (George) Delvaux, Victor Nellis, several other brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Friends may call at the McMAHON FUNERAL HOME, LUXEMBURG, 4:00 to 7:30 pm on Wednesday, June 13, 2012. Closing parish prayer service at 7:30 pm Wednesday with Sister Marlene Dimmerling, Parish Director. Visitation will continue between 9:00 and 10:45 am Thursday the 14th at St. Louis Church, Dyckesville. Funeral 11: 00 am Thursday at the church with Rev. John VanDeuren officiating. Entombment at the Shrine of The Good Shepherd Mausoleum in Green Bay. A special note of appreciation is extended to Nancy Dufek for spending countless hours helping our family during this time.
