Vivian M. Vandrisse

Vivian M. VanDrisse, 98, Luxemburg passed away peacefully with family at her side, Wednesday July 4, 2012 at Fred and Mamie's Home in Luxemburg, following a short illness. She was born April 27, 1914 in Luxemburg to the late Felix and Louise (Cravillion) Vandeveld. After graduating from Luxemburg High School she attended Milwaukee School of Beauty Culture. She then returned to Green Bay where she worked at Hanson Beauty Shop. On July 20, 1937 she married Elmer G. VanDrisse at St. Mary Church, Luxemburg. He preceded her in death December 8, 2008, the year they celebrated 71 years of marriage. In 1940 Vivian opened and operated Vivian's Beauty Shop out of her home until 1959. She then joined her husband as a secretary for VanDrisse Insurance until her retirement in 1979. She was a lifetime member of St. Mary Parish where she belonged to the Christian Mother's Society and the Catholic Order of Foresters. She enjoyed many interests which included dancing, bowling, golfing and playing cards. She belonged to the Northbrook women's golf league and the Rendezvous women's bowling league and was able to participate into her 80's. Over the years she belonged to many card clubs and was still taking her turn of hosting a women's club at her home where she lived independently until last year. Vivian loved to travel and looked forward to the annual trip to Florida with her husband Elmer, which began in their 60's and extended until their early 90's. She especially enjoyed spending the weekends in Door County at their cottage with family and friends. She loved seeing her grandchildren with their families fill the cottage with laughter. Survivors include her three children, John (Kay) VanDrisse, Luxemburg, Bob VanDrisse, Green Bay, Margaret VanDrisse, DePere, six grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, Mark (Peg) VanDrisse and their children, Caitlin and Kelly; Gary (Caroline) VanDrisse and their children, Caroline, Francesca and Cecelia; Ann (Nick) DeRosa and their children, Isabella and Sophia; Marne (Matt) Miller and their children, Gracie and Lily; Deborah (Joseph) Fierst and their children, Joseph (Angela) , Elizabeth (fiancé Craig), and Matthew (special friend Tonya); Brian ( Leslie) Wierer and their children, Veronica, Allison, Kyra and Kahner, one brother-in-law, Norman VanDrisse, Luxemburg. Vivian was preceded in death by her father-n-law and mother-in- law, George and Elizabeth (Colle) VanDrisse, one brother-in-law and three sisters-in-law, Clarence and Violet Bultman, Meriella VanDrisse and Beverly VanDrisse. Friends may call at the McMAHON FUNERAL HOME, LUXEMBURG, 4 to 7 pm Sunday, July 8, 2012. Closing parish prayer service 7 pm Sunday. Visitation will continue between 9:30 am and 10:45 am Monday at St. Mary Church, 1412 Main Street, Luxemburg. Funeral 11:00 am Monday at the church with Rev. Milton Suess officiating. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Luxemburg.
