Lorraine Doris Borley Lorraine D. Borley, 82, Dyckesville, passed away suddenly Friday morning, August 10, 2012 at Parkview Manor. She was born December 14, 1929 in Misere to the late Joseph and Mary (Devos) Charles, Sr. Lorraine attended Roosevelt School through eighth grade. On August 30, 1950, she married Joseph Borley at St. Francis DePaul Catholic Church in Duvall. He preceded her in death October 23, 2011. Lorraine and Joe began their married life farming in Pulaski. Their life revolved almost entirely around farming. They eventually moved to Dyckesville and bought their present farm, which they operated as a dairy farm until July of 1999. In 1967 they built their beautiful life long home, which remained her residence. Throughout her life, in addition to farming, Lorraine also worked in numerous places. She worked at Woody’s Cheese Factory (Green Bay), Safeway Cheese (Green Bay), Packerland Packing (Green Bay), and Alpine Nursing Home (Dyckesville). Later she was employed at various local restaurants, in maintenance or as a waitress. She worked at Ziggys Supper Club (Green Bay) Willems Restaurant (Dyckesville), Sweet Seasons (Dyckesville), and McDonalds (Luxemburg) where she especially enjoyed the young people. For many years she, along with her husband, also cleaned both the school and the church at St. Louis, Dyckesville and were responsible for setting up funeral luncheons for the Parish. Lorraine loved shopping, especially at Kohls, Good Will, St. Vincent DePaul, and the clearance sections at other local stores. She would pass her treasured bargains on to her children and grandchildren. Lorraine also did some traveling. Highlights were trips to Hawaii, Washington, D.C., and Branson. She also did many two and three day trips both in Canada and in the United States. Lorraine loved flowers as exemplified by the beautiful, colorful landscaping around her home. She loved dolls and had a large doll collection, which contributed to the beautiful decoration of her home. One of her favorite times of the year was Christmas. She loved decorating her home, both inside and out (her outdoor decorations were among the best in Dyckesville), and she loved having her entire family gather in her home on Christmas Eve for a celebration, which would culminate with attending Christmas Eve Mass at St. Louis Church. She also shared her husband’s love of card playing, dancing to polkas, and decorating with farm, especially John Deere themes. Lorraine’s faith in God was an important part of her life. She was an active member of St. Louis Parish for over fifty years. She belonged to the League of the Sacred Heart of St. Louis, and was involved in the making of quilts with that organization. It was an every evening ritual to pray the rosary. She loved the Chapel in Robinsonville, and for years she and her husband went there on a daily basis. For many years the Chapel did a special devotion to Mary both in May and on August 15th. This devotion included a Mary crowning service which involved beautiful flowers and a procession of children. It was Lorraine who organized the children’s procession and who provided and arranged the flowers (from her own gardens). Lorraine is survived by her son and daughter in law, Gary and Michele Borley, Dyckesville; daughter and son in law, Cheryl and Mark Bader, Duvall; daughter Julie Corroy and special friend Tom Eisch, Appleton; and foster daughter and her husband Leigh Ann and Randy Hovde, Green Bay. She is also survived by grandchildren Tina (Tony) Searl, Indianapolis; Courtney Borley, Luxemburg; Eric Bader, Madison; Nicole Bader, Indianapolis; Corinne (Bob) Konkol and their daughter Camille, Green Bay; Shaun Corroy, Luxemburg; and Megan Hovde, Green Bay. She is further survived by her siblings Richard (Marie) Charles; James (Muriel) Charles; and Betty Charles; and in-law’s Mark (Dorothy) Borley; Julius (Verna) Borley; Wilbert (Carol) Borley; and Leo (Lynn) Borley. Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Borley; her grandson Ryan Bader; her siblings and spouses Randall (Marie) Charles; Walter (Margaret) Charles; Wilfred Charles; Wallace (Geraldine) Charles; Irene (Melvin) Campbell; Willard Charles; John (Mabel) Charles; Mamie (Louis) LaCrosse; Clarence (Doris) Charles; Leona Charles; Joe (Mary) Charles; Mabel (Bill) Jandrain; and Mary Jane Borley; and her in-laws, Earl (Dorothy) Borley; and Norville (Mabel) Borley. Friends may call at the McMAHON FUNERAL HOME, LUXEMBURG, 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 13th; with a closing prayer service at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Dennis Drury. Visitation will continue Tuesday morning, August 14th, 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church, Dyckesville. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am with Rev. Dennis Drury, Rev. John Van Deuren, Rev. Richard Mauthe celebrating and Pat Ratajczak, Parish Director assisting. Entombment is at the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum, Green Bay. The family wishes to thank the staff at Parkview Manor for all of their wonderful care for Lorraine for the past year. They also wish to thank Lorraine’s many neighbors for the friendship and kindness they extended over the years.
