Gerald O. Vandenhouten

Gerald O. Vandenhouten Gerald O. Vandenhouten, 83, Tonet, passed away Sunday, August 12, 2012 surrounded by his family. He was born February 24, 1929 in Thiry Daems to the late Clarence and Laura (Tombal) Vandenhouten. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. On May 2, 1956 Gerald married LaVerne M. Adams at St. Martin Catholic Church, Tonet. He farmed most of his life in the Tonet area, while employed with Liebmann and Packerland Packing in Green Bay for 37 years. Gerald was a member of the American Legion Ralph Kline Post 262 Luxemburg. He was an avid Packer fan, loved to travel, tell jokes, play cards, go for walks, tending to his farm and spending time with family and friends. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, LaVerne and their five children, Dennis (Diane) Vandenhouten, Tina (Jim) Jacqmin, all of Green Bay; Pam (David) Schneider, DePere, Lisa (Rex) Bergelin, Kevin Vandenhouten all of Green Bay; six grandchildren, Dustin and Kristin Jacqmin, Tyler and Avery Schneider, Bryan and Brittany Bergelin, one brother and one sister-in-law, Ronald (Catherine) Vandenhouten, Manitowoc, one sister and one brother-in-law, Bernice Thayse, Green Bay, Darold Cayemberg, MI. one brother-in-law and one sister-in-law, Larry and Nancy Adams, Green Bay, several nieces and nephews. Gerald was preceded in death by, his parents, two sisters, Carol Jean (Marvin) Frisque, Patsy Cayemberg, one brother-in-law, Ronald Adams, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Elmer and Mayme Adams. Friends may call at the McMAHON FUNERAL HOME, LUXEMBURG, 4 to 8 pm Wednesday, August 15, 2012. The American Legion Ralph Kline Post 262 Memorial Service 6:30 pm, parish prayer service 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue Thursday between 9:15 and 10:10 am at St. Joseph Church, Champion. Funeral 10:30 am Thursday at the Church with Rev. William O'Brien officiating. Complete military honors following the funeral mass. Entombment in the Shrine of The Good Shepherd Mausoleum. The Family wishes to thank the Staff of Green Bay Oncology, Dr. Gerald Bayer, St. Vincent Hospital 9th floor Staff and Unity Hospice for care given to Gerald.
