Martin J. Zeitler Martin J. Zeitler, 82, Luxemburg died Sunday afternoon, August 19, 2012 at his home, following a short illness. He was born December 2, 1929 in the Town of Montpelier to the late August and Elfrieda (Treptow) Zeitler. He graduated from Luxemburg High School in 1948. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the American Legion Post 262, Luxemburg. On June 9, 1956 Martin married Jean M. Dahlke at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Montpelier. He farmed on the Zeitler homestead until retirement in 1990 and was recognized as an Outstanding Farm Family in 1962 and in 1996 received a Forestry Award for practicing woodland preservation. He later worked for Pravachek Farm Supply until 2003. He was the Montpelier Town Clerk for 10 years, served on numerous boards for St. Paul Lutheran Church and School and was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church Choir. His enjoyments included fishing, local stockcar racing, making maple syrup, raising shiitake mushrooms, woodworking, wine making and spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Jean and their four sons, Steve Zeitler, Oconto Falls; Dave (Patti) Zeitler, Russ (Jenny) Zeitler, James Zeitler, of Luxemburg; eight grandsons, Nic (Jenny) Zeitler, Jon (Kristin) Zeitler, Joe Zeitler, Eric (Trisha) Zeitler, Adam Zeitler, Matthew (Sara) Zeitler, Jacob Zeitler, Joshua Zeitler, six great-grandchildren, Adan, Mitchell, Lukas, Addison, Ava, Aryanna Zeitler, three brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law, Marvin (Garnet) Dahlke, Mildred (Myron) Drab, Dorothy (Don) Pribek, all of Luxemburg, nieces and nephews. Martin is preceded in death by one granddaughter, Katie Zeitler (Sept. 18, 2004) his father-in-law and his mother-in-law, Hugo and Selma Dahlke. Friends may call at the McMAHON FUNERAL HOME, LUXEMBURG, 4 to 7:30 pm, Wednesday, August 22, 2012. Closing parish prayer service 7:30 pm Wednesday. Visitation will continue between 9:30 and 10:45 am, Thursday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Montpelier. Funeral 11:00 am Thursday at the church with Rev. Daniel Grams officiating. Burial in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Montpelier. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be established. The Zeitler Family wishes to extend a special thank you to Pastor Daniel Grams and all the helpful people from Unity Hospice for care offered to Martin.
