Myrtle E. Van Goethem Myrtle E. Van Goethem, 91, Luxemburg formerly of Sugar Bush died early Wednesday morning, September 5, 2012 at Kewaunee Care Center in Kewaunee. She was born March 16, 1921 in Preble to the late John and Pauline (VandenAvond) Van Pay. On April 28, 1937 Myrtle married Archie Van Goethem at Holy Martyrs of Gorcum Catholic Church. Together they farmed in Sugar Bush until he preceded her in death September 22, 1969. Myrtle was a great cook. She cooked for St. Joseph's Home for Boys, the Diocese of Green Bay and years later for the Sisters of Saint Francis Convent in Bay Settlement. Her enjoyments included playing cards, traveling, going up north to her brothers cottage, snowmobiling, tending to her flower garden and working in her yard. Most of all she enjoyed being with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Survivors include her eight children, four sons and six daughters in law, Arnold (Joyce) Van Goethem, Kewaunee; Darrold (Pat) Van Goethem, Stangelville; Bill (Linda) Van Goethem, Luxemburg; Ray (Janette) Van Goethem, Carol Van Goethem (friend Dale Fictum), Karen Van Goethem, all of Kewaunee; four daughters and three sons in law, Carol LeLou, Casco; Elaine (Don) Leiterman, Denmark; Betty Zimmer (Howard) Wegner, Kewaunee; Diane (Vincent) Delain, New Franken; 43 grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, 81 great-grandchildren, 15 step-great-grandchildren, 13 great-great-grandchildren, three step great-great-grandchildren, two brothers, Clarence Van Pay, Bernard (Audrey) Van Pay, all of Green Bay; nieces and nephews. Myrtle was preceded in death by two sons, Harold Van Goethem, Bob Van Goethem, two sons in law, Marcien LeLou, Marlin Zimmer, two grandsons, Kevin Van Goethem, Pat Teicher, one great-grandson, Craig Miller, three sisters and two brothers in law, infant twin sisters, Evelean and Eveline, Alice (Bill) Gestner, Mike Heiser, two brothers and two sisters in law, Harold Van Pay, Bob (Beatrice) Van Pay, Rosie Van Pay, one sister in law and one brother in law, John and Caroline (Van Goethem) Vanden Bush, her father in law and her mother in law, Fredrick and Salina Van Goethem. Friends may call at the McMAHON FUNERAL HOME, LUXEMBURG, 3:00 to 7:30 pm Friday, September 07. 2012. Closing parish prayer service 7:30 pm Friday. Visitation will continue between 9:00 and 10:15 am Saturday at St. Thomas The Apostle Church, Sugar Bush. Funeral 10:30 am at the church with Rev. William O'Brien officiating. Burial in St. Hubert Cemetery, Sugar Bush.
