Julia Dorner

April 28, 1923 — January 1, 2013

Julia Dorner Julia E Dorner, 89, a lifelong Montpelier resident died peacefully in her sleep with her family at her side on January 1, 2013 at St. Vincent hospital. Julia was born April 28, 1923 to the late Joseph A. and Katherine M (Kustka) Ledvina. Her birth order was Louis, Norbert, Charles, Julia and Leonard. Her father Joseph and brother Charles died from a car accident July 1938. She was a graduate of Pilsen graded school June 1936 and a graduate and valedictorian of St. Joseph Academy class of 1941. She married George J. Dorner Jr. June 9, 1943 at St. Joseph Church, Pilsen. Together they bought the Thomas Dorner farm in 1947 and dairy farmed until their retirement. They raised ten children. Julia after her husband George's death June 13, 1979 continued to garden, cook, bake and loved to go to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren's functions. When she had guests for a home cooked meal, even at the farmhouse she served it on her best dinnerware and a linen tablecloth. Julia was the Lords faithful servant and longtime member of St. Mary Church, Luxemburg; also a member of their Christian Mothers Society, Catholic Order of Foresters, a Eucharistic minister and a tutor at St. Mary grade school. She made the beef stew for the annual fall church fundraiser for many years. She was a transport of the elderly and disabled for many years for the aged resource center. Still she had time to visit the sick and aged. She enjoyed going to Mass weekday mornings and breakfast after at McDonalds with her friends for their good coffee. Two mission children from India she sponsored and supported with letters of kindness and praise of which she was immensely proud of their achievements. This also led to her working with a mission group. Her Christian influence runs deep. She bowled at the Rendezvous still in her early eighties. Julia worked at the Rendezvous for fifty plus years and on Tuesdays volunteered at Pauls Pantry for almost twenty years. Asked why she quit now at the Rendezvous, she stated " because it's getting old!" She lived her dream of traveling with her husband and after that with her children. She was one of the girls on their yearly Door County get-a-way. She loved to experience new adventures and never said no to any invite and then spoke her famous phrase "No wonder my freezer never gets empty" She was also an avid reader. We pray God's comfort upon all who morn especially her ten children and their families: Mary (Adolph) Reckelberg, Kewaunee and their children, Heidi (Rod) Heim, Kelsey, Abigail and Sam, Jed (Mary) Reckelberg Jared, Madalyn and Jayden, Ellen (Jeff) Cleath, Andrew, Katherine and Norah; Sarah "Sally" (Carl) Riemer, Green Bay, and their children, Andrew (Liz) Riemer, Eric Riemer; Gerald "Jerry" (Linda Hyde) Dorner, Green Bay, Christine Hyde; Allan (Lynn) Dorner, Luxemburg, and their children, Melissa (Tom) Morris, Adilynn, William, Kim Dorner and Sarah Dorner; Claire (Edward) Augustian, Kewaunee and their children, Todd Augustian, Regina and Grant, Aaron Augustian, Kelly (Ryan) Damheuser, Finn, Kyle Augustian, Susan Augustian; Julie (John) Renier, New Franken and their children, John(Jill) Renier, Julia, Anna Mae, Amber(Jason) Chibek, Victoria, Lindsay(Jon) O'Hern, Spencer(Alana) Renier and Chase; Jane (Mark) Hermans, Oshkosh, and their children Alison & Patrick Ostroth & Brenden, Brianna Hermans, John Hermans; Denise (Eddie) Kinjerski, Luxemburg; and their children, Katie Kinjerski, Ryan Kinjerski, Philip Kinjerski, Lori (Kenneth) Willems, Luxemburg; and their children, Tara Pileski & Max, Travis Willems, Lynn (Gary) Holly, Kewaunee; and their children, Julya Holly, Winston Holly, three sisters in law, Mayme Ledvina, Elaine Dorner, both of Luxemburg and Ann Marie Finnel, Denmark, many nieces and nephews.
