/ Jean I. Hoppe Jean I Hoppe (Mrs. Elroy), 87, of Luxemburg died Monday afternoon, January 7, 2013 at Bellin Hospital, following a short battle with cancer. She was born in Luxemburg to the late Harold A. and Laura M. (Martin) Peters on January 22, 1925. On June 27, 1947 Jean married Elroy Hoppe at St. John Lutheran Church, Luxemburg. He preceded her in death June of 2002. She lived in Luxemburg her entire life and was a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church. Jean was a graduate of Bellin College of Nursing and served as a Registered Nurse at the Luxemburg Clinic for over 30 years and later as a school nurse for the Luxemburg-Casco School district. She enjoyed her family weekends up north at the "farm", her devoted friends of the "Bridge Club", golf, reading a good book, painting and never missed a good rummage sale. She was involved with her husband at the Kewaunee County Fair for many years. Her final call to duty came as she devoted her time to giving exceptional care to her parents and later to her husband in the final days of their lives. Survivors include her three children, Judy Paris (Brockway), Kewaunee, Jan Smithwick (Dale "Puppy" Reckelberg), Al (Sheila) Hoppe, all of Luxemburg, seven grandchildren, Laura (Brian "Bucky") Ihlenfeldt, Lindsey (Mike) Vandenhouten, Katie Smithwick, Jack Smithwick, Aaron, Anna and Alex Hoppe, three great-grandchildren, Jake, Mia and Sam Ihlenfeldt. Jean was preceded in death by one son in law, Jim Brockway, three brothers in law and three sisters in law, Bud (Ruth) Hoppe, Marvin (Dorothy) Hoppe, Alice (Rev. Leonard) Schneider. Friends may call at ST. JOHN LUTHERAN CHURCH, 700 Heritage Road, Luxemburg on Thursday, January 10, 2013 between 9:00 am and 10:45 am. Funeral 11:00 am Thursday at the church with Rev. Carl Brewer officiating. Burial in St. John Cemetery, Luxemburg. McMAHON FUNERAL HOME, LUXEMBURG is assisting the Hoppe family. We were truly blessed with a wonderful Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and friend. Her kindness and good nature will be missed, but never forgotten.
