Donald R. Salentine

Donald R. Salentine, 82, Luxemburg, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, February 3, 2013. Donald was born March 7, 1930, the son of the late John and Anna (Oberhofer) Salentine. On October 15, 1955 Donald married Beatrice Beyer at St. Kilian Church, New Franken. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church all his life, a member of the Holy Name Society and a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters Court #1065, serving as Treasurer of many years. He also Served on the FS Board of Directors for many years. His Faith was very important to him as well as farming and his family. Donald’s enjoyments included playing cards and checkers and any family gathering. Donald is survived by his wife of 57 years, Beatrice, eight children, Daniel (Dawn) Salentine, Luxemburg; Frank (Vicki) Salentine, Kewaunee; Joan (Lyndon) Pritchard, Green Bay; Sandy (Mark) Schwalbe, Pleasant Prairie, Wis.; Raymond Salentine, Luxemburg; Dick (Lee Ann) Salentine, Luxemburg; Greg (Lorie) Salentine, New Franken; Sara (Doug) Rifleman, Wisconsin Rapids, Rodney (Julie) Schleis, Kewaunee; Brian Strnad, Luxemburg; 35 grandchildren: Wesley, Beth, Megan and Wayde Salentine; Steve (Heather), Ben (Stephanie), Jenny, Amber (Eric), Andrew, Brittany, Adam, Alyssa, and Tiffany Salentine; Jacob (Stacy), Jessica (Dan), Spencer and Alex Schleis; Kristin and Bryce Pritchard; Ethan, Anna, Emma, Alegra and Aidan Schwalbe; Trenten Strnad; Dylan, Cassidy and Noah Salentine; Nicholas (Rushina), Jordan and Briana Salentine; Clare and John Salentine; William and Stella Rifleman; 10 great-grand children; two siblings, Helen Peot, Kewaunee and Marcella Salmon Green Bay; his brother-in-law Ervin Destree Green Bay; and his sister-in-law Betty Salentine Luxemburg; five brothers-in-law and five sisters-in-law, Peter Jr. (Barb) Beyer, New Franken; Gerald Beyer, Crivitz; Donald (Kathy) Beyer, Luxemburg; David (Linda) Beyer, Green Bay; Eleanor (Earl) Martin, Luxemburg; Bernadine Decker, Manitowoc; many nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by two daughters, Diane Schleis and Barbara Strnad, two brothers, infant John Salentine, Milton Salentine, two sisters and three brothers-in-law, Marian (Leo) Salmon, Audrey Destree, Edward Salmon and Donald Peot, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Peter and Rose Beyer, two brothers-in-law, Richard Beyer, Edwin Decker. Dad will always be remembered for his great sense of humor. He will especially be missed on our birthdays, when he “sang” Happy Birthday to us! Friends may call at St. MARY CHURCH, LUXEMBURG 3 to 7 pm Wednesday, February 6, 2013. Parish prayer service 6:00 pm. Visitation will continue Thursday between 9:30 and 10:45 am at St. Mary Church. Funeral 11:00 am with Rev. Milton Suess officiating. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Luxemburg. McMAHON FUNERAL HOME, LUXEMBURG, is assisting the family. A very special thank you is extended to Rev. Milton Suess, the entire congregation of St. Mary Church and St. John Lutheran Church in Luxemburg, and the Staff of St. Vincent Hospital ICU for all you have done for Donald and his family.
