Anthony "Tony" J. Arendt

Anthony “Tony” Arendt Anthony “Tony” Arendt, New Franken, was ushered into heaven, Wednesday morning, February 13, 2013 at Bornemann Nursing Home. He was born September 22, 1933, to the late Alois and Martha (Dorner) Arendt. On October 5, 1957, Tony married Georgia Corbisier in Green Bay, WI Tony was in the Marine Corps from 1953-1956. He loved fishing on Lake Michigan with his friends, played trumpet in the Luxemburg Community Band for 25 years, was a member of the American Legion Ralph Kline Post 262 Luxemburg, played taps at countless funerals and Memorial Day services, served with the Knights of Columbus and enjoyed working with the school kids for the annual poster contest and worked with confirmation classes. After 33 years Tony retired from Proctor & Gamble. He and Georgia vacationed at Lake Havasu, AZ for several years after Tony’s retirement. In his spare time, Tony could be found in his shed, smoking fish, sharpening saws, and puttering on wood-working projects. Tony always enjoyed good conversation over a few beers. He was a loving husband and a great father and grandfather. Surviving are his wife, Georgia; daughter, Mona Christensen (David);son, Todd (Sherri); daughter Kim (Randy Aafedt); son Tim (Christine), grandchildren: Paul and Elise Christensen, Sarah, Mary and Lily Arendt, Samuel, Andrew, Benjamin and Julia Arendt; sisters: Amanda, Virginia, Sharon (Ellis); brothers, John (Francine) and Grant (Jeanne), as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Alois and Martha Arendt, sisters, Catherine and Ethel; brothers Alois Jr. and Kenneth; and brothers-in-law Neil and Ronald. Friends may call at the McMAHON FUNERAL HOME, LUXEMBURG, 4:00 to 7:00 pm Friday, February 15, 2013. American Legion Ralph Kline Post 262 memorial service, 6:00 pm. Visitation will continue between 9:00 and 10:15 am Saturday at St. Thomas The Apostle Church, Sugarbush. Funeral 10:30 am Saturday at the church with Rev. Andrew Kurz officiating. Full military rites following the funeral. Entombment will be private at the Good Shepherd Mausoleum, Green Bay. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be established with Unity Hospice and St. Kilian Church, New Franken. The family would like to especially thank all our family, neighbors and friends for countless visits with Tony, the outstanding staff of Unity Palliative Care and Hospice, Bornemann Nursing Home as well as the doctors who cared for him over the years. Remembering Tony’s favorite sayings, “Keep Smiling”, “We’re just here for a visit”, “Better than a sharp stick in the eye" and... “Hold the phone”.
