Verna R. Doell

Verna R. Doell Verna R. Doell, 94, Kewaunee, went to be with the Lord, Friday afternoon, June 14, 2013 at St. Mary's Hospital, Green Bay. She was born March 9, 1919 in Maribel to the late Louis and Martha (Gauger) Habeck. On November 6, 1940 Verna married Alvin A. Doell at St. John Lutheran Church, Maribel. Together they operated a dairy farm in rural Luxemburg, residing and moving to the Village of Luxemburg. He preceded her in death October 25, 2001. Later she moved to the City of Kewaunee and presently was residing with her son and daughter-in-law in rural Kewaunee. Verna was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Montpelier where she was a member of the Lutheran Layman's League and also enjoyed quilting with the ladies group in her earlier years. Additional enjoyments included gardening, going to the children's cottages, word-number search puzzles, playing cards at Kewaunee Senior Center and watching Green Bay Packer Games. Verna's special love was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include her two children, Arlie and Jean Doell, Dianne Kilgore, all of Kewaunee, four grandsons, Patrick (special friend Angie Fischer), Timothy (special friend Mandy Shimon), Travis (Tina) Kilgore, Shawn (Amanda) Kilgore, five great-grandchildren, Logan, Connor, Caden Kilgore, Clay and Chloe Kilgore, two sisters in law, Lorna Habeck, Kewaunee, Gertrude Doell, Green Bay, nieces and nephews. Verna was preceded in death by, two brothers and one sister-in-law, Hugo and Meta Habeck, Harvey Habeck, three brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law, Ervin Doell, Herbert & Elsa Doell, Arno Doell. Friends may call at the McMAHON FUNERAL HOME, LUXEMBURG, 4:00 to 8:00 pm, Monday, June 17, 2013. Parish prayer service 7:30 pm. Monday. Visitation will continue between 9:30 am and 10:45 am Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Montpelier. Funeral 11:00 am Tuesday at the church with Rev. Daniel Grams officiating. Burial in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Montpelier. The Family wishes to extend a note of thanks to Pastor Daniel Grams for his many visits during Verna's hospital stay, the Doctors and Staff of Bellin Hospital, Grancare Rehab Center and the Doctors, Nurses and Chaplin of St. Mary's Emergency Center for taking care of Verna and her family.
