James "Jim V. Tlachac

James "Jim" V. Tlachac James "Jim" V. Tlachac, 80, Luxemburg died late Friday afternoon, at his home surrounded by his family, September 6, 2013. He was born in Door County on January 21, 1933 to the late Edward C. and Jennie M. (Kinnard) Tlachac. Jim served his country as a medic with the United States Army from 1953 until 1954 during the Korean Conflict. On August 28, 1954, Jim married Myra M. Mathu at St. Hubert Church in Sugar Bush. He was a member of St. Mary Church, Luxemburg, Luxemburg Chamber of Commerce and The American Legion Ralph Kline Post 262 in Luxemburg. Jim owned and operated Jim's Plumbing and Heating from 1963 to 2004, consecutively owning Jim's 54 Café in Luxemburg for 15 years. He was a volunteer with the Luxemburg Fire Department and a Deputy Conservation Warden with Kewaunee County for ten years. He was very instrumental in developing the Luxemburg Sportsman Club, Hillside Location. He was an avid pheasant hunter making countless trips to South Dakota, enjoyed travel in general and spending time with friends and family. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Myra and their three special children, Daniel (Kelly) Tlachac, Houston, TX, Anne (Francis) Vandenmeerendonk, Green Bay, David (Tammy) Tlachac, Luxemburg, five grandchildren, Sean Tlachac, Paige and Abby Vandenmeerendonk, Jordan and Grace Tlachac, three brothers and two sisters, Eddie (Marge) Tlachac, Ken (Julaine) Tlachac, Allen (Donna) Tlachac, Veronica (Hamlin) Boucher, Rose (Roger) Beirl all of Luxemburg, brothers in law and sisters in law, Elaine (Larry) Wery, Casco, Marianne Greatens, Luxemburg Carl (Judy) Mathu, Green Bay, Genial (Ellen) Mathu, Linda (Dave) Jadin, Paula (Paul) Sinkula, Bernadine Mathu; all of Luxemburg, many nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Veronica Ann Tlachac, Gen (John) Buhr, one brother, Francis Tlachac, two brothers in law, Gerald Mathu and Harley Greatens, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joe and Beatrice Mathu. Friends may call at St. Mary Church, Luxemburg, 4:00 to 7:00 pm, Monday, September 9, 2013. Parish prayer service 6:00 pm followed by the American Legion Ralph Kline prayer service at 6:30 pm. Monday. Visitation will continue between 9:00 and 10:30 am, Tuesday at St. Mary Church, Luxemburg. Funeral 11:00 am Tuesday at the church with Rev. Milton Suess officiating.
