Rita M. Weidner Rita M. Weidner (Mrs. John "Jim" Weidner), 86, Euren, died early Tuesday morning, October 8, 2013 at Kewaunee Care Center, Kewaunee. She was born April 29, 1927 in the Town of Red River to the late Clem and Alice (Boucher) DeJardin. On September 11, 1945 Rita married John J. Weidner in Salinas California, where John was preparing to leave for a tour of duty overseas with the United States Army. Rita was an Army wife for 23 years, raising her six children at eight different duty stations in five different states and overseas. She stayed at home to raise her children, often alone, while her husband was away on duty. Together with her husband and four children, Alaska was selected as a duty station packing up a horse trailer and drove up the gravel Alaskan Highway in May of 1960. Her two younger children were born in Alaska on the homestead 160 acres of land in Delta Junction, AK., where her two oldest children still live. They retired with their family to Euren, WI, where she lived until August of this year when she moved to Kewaunee Care Center. Her enjoyments included gardening, quilting, card playing and travel. Survivors include her six children, Kelly (Melanie) Weidner, James Weidner, all of Delta Junction, AK; Ricky (Jill) Weidner, Euren; Susan (John) Delain, Fairbanks, AK; Patrick (Debbie) Weidner, Euren; Gary Weidner, Fairbanks, AK; fourteen grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, three sisters and one brother-in-law, Lillian DuBois, Duvall; Dorothy Dhuey, Euren; Mercedes and Russell Dhuey, Casco; three sisters-in-law, Pearl Weidner, MD; Mary Jane Weidner, NY; June Weidner, Casco; nieces and nephews. Rita was preceded in death by her husband, John, triplet grandchildren, four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Lawrence DeJardin, Cyril (Libby) DeJardin, Peter (Emma) DeJardin, Martin (Stella) DeJardin, six brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law, Goldie Dhuey, Clifford DuBois, George Weidner, Rufus Weidner, Arthur (Beatrice) Weidner, Robert "Red" Weidner. Friends may call at the McMAHON FUNERAL HOME, LUXEMBURG, 3 to 7 pm. Friday, October 25, 2013. Closing parish rosary 7:00 pm Friday. Visitation will continue Saturday, October 26, 2013 between 9:00 and 9:45am at St. Peter Catholic Church, Lincoln. Funeral 10:00 am Saturday at the church. Entombment in the Shrine of The Good Shepherd Mausoleum, Green Bay. The Family wishes to extend a thank you to the Staff of Kewaunee Care Center, Dr. Thomas Zenner, Dr. Gail Carels and Unity Hospice for care given to Rita.
