Ella M. Vanden Houten Ella M. Vanden Houten, age 92, of Luxemburg, Wisconsin passed into eternal life Friday, morning November 22, 2013 at her residence at Oak Creek Assisted Living. The former Ella Ropson was born April 16th, 1921 in Tonet, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late Alex and Alice (DeChamps) Ropson. Ella Married Emerson J. Vanden Houten at St. Martin Church in Tonet on October 30, 1943. He preceded her in death on September 29, 1985. Ella and Emerson owned and operated a dairy farm in Tonet for approximately 40 years. Ella worked for Stodola’s IGA from 1974-1982 and introduced the Belgian Pie to the bakery, earning her the title of IGA’s “Belgian Pie Queen”. The most important thing in Ella’s life was family and friends. Always willing to listen and lend support earned her “most special person” status from many who knew her. She loved her parents, husband, children, son-in-law, brothers and sisters-in-law, sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews and their extended families so very much. She loved spending time laughing and joking and playing cards with them and her many friends and strangers who were drawn to her beautiful spirit and soon became friends. Survivors include her daughter Pat A. Becker of Green Bay; Son Dale J. Vanden Houten (Richard J. Scott) of Minneapolis, MN; brother, Roland (Carol) Ropson of Champion; sister, Carol (Norman) Collins of Tonet; two sisters-in-law, Rosella Ropson, Green Bay, Evelyn Ropson, Tonet, many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; sister Dorothy (Jerry) Bodart; Brothers Gaylord Ropson and Gerald Ropson. Friends and family may call at St. Mary Catholic Church, Luxemburg from 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 am on Tuesday November 26, 2013. Funeral Mass 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the church with Rev. Milton Suess officiating. Entombment at the Shrine of The Good Shepherd Mausoleum, Green Bay.
