Michael W. Dorner Michael W. Dorner, 97, lifelong resident of Luxemburg, Wisconsin, died peacefully, early Friday morning, December 27, 2013 at Fred and Mamie's Home (CBRF) in Luxemburg. He was born on March 27, 1916 in Luxemburg to the late Jacob G. and Frances K. (Rank) Dorner. Mike married his sweetheart, Leone M. Burkart on June 21, 1938 at St. Kilian Church, New Franken. After 65 years of marriage, she preceded him in death on September 12, 2003. Michael was a model of a life well lived. He began as a farmer and had many part time jobs. After selling the farm in 1959, he became a foreman at Endlich Packing Company (later Green Bay Dressed Beef). He spent his long retirement building miniatures (houses, a dairy barn, a chapel), feeding birds, keeping a daily journal and caring for his wife as her health declined. He was an active member of St. Mary Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 5844 in Luxemburg and the Holy Name Society. Michael was always busy, curious, optimistic and good humored, qualities that contribute to a rich longevity. His most outstanding roles were as husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. In these roles he had no peer. His kindness, wisdom, sense of humor and genuine interest in others form the legacy that will continue through the lives of all who knew him.
