Soquet, Laverne O. Laverne O. Soquet (Mrs. Donald), 88, died on December 13, 2014 with her family by her side after a 3 year illness. She was born April 12, 1926 in Casco to the late Edith Romdenne. On February 1, 1945 she married Donald J. Soquet at Holy Trinity Parish, Casco. Don preceded her in death on August 3, 2011. Don & Laverne owned and operated Soquet’s Tavern in Thiry Daems after their marriage. Laverne worked at Algoma Net Co. for a brief period. Don & Laverne farmed until their retirement in 1989. She enjoyed crocheting, playing cards, putting puzzles together and being with her family. Laverne is survived by six children and their spouses: Donna Menzer & Jim Schultz, Sheboygan; Dene & Richard DeBauche, New Franken; Donald Jr. & Carol Soquet, Tonet; John & Linda Soquet, Green Bay; Joe Soquet & Wendi Renkens, Green Bay; Pat & Terry Ratajczak, Luxemburg: 14 grandchildren: Brian & Julie Menzer, Rod & Linda Menzer, Tim & Kelly Menzer, Dee & Dave Krivoshia, Dan & Carol DeBauche, Lisa & Wayne Schwendeman, Jen & Laurel Ettien Jr., B.J. “Brad” Soquet and his friend Jessie Clark, Brenda & Matt Noel, Paula & Don Van Ess, Josh Soquet, Larissa Soquet, Sheri Gasser & Logan Kayne, Stacy & Ivan Fernandez; 16 great grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; one sister, Ruth Annoye, Algoma; 2 sisters-in-law; Ramona Koss, Casco; and Mary Zirbel, Green Bay; special extended family member; Virgil Romdenne, Luxemburg. Besides her husband Donald, she was preceded in death by one infant grandson, Wayne DeBauche; two sons-in-law, Myron Bader & Ron Herr; one brother, Charles Koss Jr. Sisters-in-law & Brothers-in-law Stanley Annoye, Josie (William) Vanness, Al Zirbel, William (Mary) Soquet. Special cousin Philip Romdenne (who lived with Don & Laverne for many years). Friends and family may call at McMAHON FUNERAL HOME, LUXEMBURG on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 from 3- 7 p.m. Closing parish prayer service at 7 p.m. with Laverne’s daughter, Pat Ratajczak presiding. Visitation will continue Wednesday, December 17, 2014 from 9 – 10:15 a.m. at St. Joseph Parish, Champion. Funeral 10:30 a.m. at the church with Rev. Dean Dombroski officiating, Rev. John Van Deuren and Rev. Andrew Kurz concelebrating. Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Champion. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established. Laverne’s family would like to extend a very special “thank you” to Sharon DePeau for all you did for mom and for our family, you went above and beyond and words cannot express our deep appreciation. Thank you to Pam and to the entire staff at Helping Hearts Assisted Living, formerly Fred & Mamie’s Home for your wonderful care and special concern. Thank you to the nurses and staff of Unity Hospice, especially Angela, Jennifer and Stacy for your professional care.
