Octavia "Tavie" Kollross Peacefully Octavia "Tavie" Kollross, 96, surrounded by her loving family after singing "Happy Birthday" to Grandson Matt, surrendered into her loving Fathers arms, Thursday, July 23, 2015. After greeting her husband Pete and son Peter and the rest of her family and friends. A pot of coffee was made, a batch of Belgian pies were made and the cards were dealt for a game of cuyoo. The celebration of Tavie's new home in Heaven and her loving and generous heart on earth has begun. She was born May 11, 1919 to the late Felix and Josephine "Fannie" (Gerard) Theys in Walhain. She married Peter P. Kollross on September 28, 1938 at St. Amand Church, Walhain. He preceded her in death July 28. 1979. Tavie and her husband Pete operated German Pete's in Luxemburg for six years. Her primary job was always having food in her fridge or baked goodies in her freezer to share with family and friends who knocked on her door. Many a baskets of laundry, especially socks, were folded by her hands. She was a woman of strong faith, enjoying many visits and walks from Luxemburg to Our Lady of Good Help Chapel in Robinsonville. She was a member of St. Mary Church, Luxemburg and the Christian Mother Society of St. Mary's. Survivors include her children, Barb Hill, Jerome (Linda) Kollross, Louise (friend David Frisque) Metzler, all of the area; eleven grandchildren, Angel (Michael) Mashl, Jody (Kevin) Leick, Dennis (Stacie) Cherney, April (friend Jesse) Hill, Todd (Laura) Kollross, Scott (Cami) Kollross, Stacy (Tim) Retterath, Michelle Metzler, Mandy (Jake) Werner, Matthew Metzler, Luke Metzler; 21 great-grandchildren, Destinee, Alexis, Hunter, Cole, Ryan, Kyle, Hannah, Bryce, Sawyer, Armani, Anthani, Alyssa, Clay, Caden, Carli, Tyler, Dawson, Nick, Nathan, William and Emily; nieces and nephews. Tavie was preceded in death by one son, Peter F. Kollross, three brothers and seven sisters, Abraham (Adele) Theys, Mary (Emil) Vandervest, John (Laura) Theys, Julia (John) Vaness, Juliet (Henry) Brault, Martin (Laura) Theys, Emma (Peter) Zellner, Anna (Emanuel) Wery, Eugenia Theys, Agnes Theys; three brothers in law, Joe (Mary) Kollross, Jim (Angeline) Kollross, George Kollross. Friends may call 3:30 to 7:00 pm, Sunday, July 26, 2015 at St. Mary Church, Luxemburg. Closing parish prayer service 7:00 pm Sunday. Visitation will continue between 9:30 and 10:45 am on Monday, July 27, 2015. Funeral 11:00 am at the church with Rev. Milton Suess officiating. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Luxemburg.
