Robert "Bob" A. Yancey

Robert A. Yancey Robert "Bob" A. Yancey, 77 of Pilsen, loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, was called home on August 9, 2015. Bob was born in Sheboygan on May 10, 1938 to the late John P. and Manilla C. (Haag) Yancey. On June 13, 1959 Bob married Diane J. Mercier in Sheboygan. She preceded him in death on July 22, 2009. A consummate dreamer, Bob was a truly talented artist. Having embarked on his art career at an early age (elementary school), he mastered a number of medias - including pencil, pen and ink, water color and wood carving. Bob was able to use his artistic talents professionally as a layout artist with the H.C. Prange Co. and as a graphic artist, retiring with the Green Bay Press Gazette. With a ready sense of humor, Bob could easily make new friends wherever he went. Over the past several years; Bob showed his carvings at art shows across the state and was a featured carver in numerous wood carving publications. Survivors include his two daughters, Wendy (Michael) Gilley, Kristel (Ray) Hawley, both of Green Bay; four grandchildren, Kalyn (Seth) Stephens, Cole Ward, Amanda (Henry Havens III) Hawley and Shannon Hawley; five great grandchildren, Emmanuel and Rosalie Havens, Madyson, Callie and Lauren Stephens; two sisters in law and one brother in law, Doris Yancey, Sheboygan; Wayne (Ruth) Mercier, Sheboygan; nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Diane, his parents, one brother, Russell Yancey, one sister, Verona (Elmer) Ziemke; his father in law and his mother in law, Edgar and Helen Mercier. Friends may call at S.S. Cyril and Methodius Faith Community Chapel, corner of Hwy 29 and County T. in the town of Poland, WI. on Saturday, August 15, 2015, from 9:00 to 11:00 am. Memorial service to be held at 11:00 am. at the chapel with Rev. David Hatch officiating. Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Pislen. In lieu of flowers, Bob would appreciate memorial tributes to the American Cancer Society in memory of his wife, Diane.
