Gordon "Gordy" A. Reckelberg

Gordon A. Reckelberg Gordon "Gordy" A. Reckelberg, 81, Luxemburg, died early Sunday morning October 18, 2015. He was born in the Town of Montpelier on July 21, 1934 to the late William A. and Martha S. (Mueller) Reckelberg. On July 19, 1980 he married Sally A. Leschensky at St. Paul Lutheran Church in the Town of Montpelier. Gordy was employed with the Kewaunee County Highway Department. Following his retirement he drove school bus for the Luxemburg-Casco School District. His passion was music, beginning with his father's brass band and then to his own band, The Gordy Reckelberg Orchestra in 1972. He DJ'd on his own radio show, the Gordy Reckelberg Orchestra Show for WAUN radio. Gordy was a member of the Wisconsin Orchestra Leaders Association and awarded the Wisconsin Orchestra Band Leader of the Year in 1988. He served on various boards, such as the Town of Montpelier, Kewaunee County Board and many church boards. His enjoyments also included restoring tractors and especially playing cards with his family. Survivors include his wife of thirty five years, Sally; two daughters, Cathy Reckelberg, Brookfield; Diane Reckelberg (Brian Rathe), Green Bay; one son, Gerald Leschensky (Connie Christensen) Luxemburg; one brother, Carl (Joyce) Reckelberg, Denmark; four sisters, Dorothy Tess, Lois Siegmund, Phyllis (William) Erichsen, LaVerne Dax all of Kewaunee; two sisters in law, Bernice Reckelberg, Casco; Dolores Reckelberg, Luxemburg; his father in law, Peter Spatz, DePere; one brother in law, Tom Crum, Lodi; one sister in law, Carol Spatz, New Franken; many relatives and friends. Gordy was preceded in death by his first wife, Delores Schroeder-Reckelberg, two brothers, Harold Reckelberg and William Reckelberg; three brothers in law, Harlan Tess, Kenneth Siegmund, Leon Dax; his mother in law, Bernadine Spatz; two sisters in law, Sandra Crum, Cheryl (Joe) Poos. Friends may call 3:00 to 7:00 pm, Friday, October 23, 2015 at St. John Lutheran Church, 700 Heritage Road, Luxemburg, Wi. 54217. Closing parish prayer service 7:00 pm on Friday. Visitation continues between 9:00 and 10:45 am, Saturday, October 24, 2015 at St. John Lutheran Church, Luxemburg. Funeral 11:00 am, Saturday at the church with Rev. Carl Brewer officiating.
