Ira A. Ropson Ira Anton Ropson, 88 of Dyckesville, WI. passed away peacefully Tuesday evening, November 24, 2015 in the comfort of his home. Ira was born on March 22, 1927 to the late Eli and Mary (DeBauche) Ropson in Green Bay. Ira proudly served his country in the United States Navy on an ammunition ship, in Thailand and the Philippine's during World War II. A graduate of Luxemburg High School, Ira was also part of the state championship football team. On June 23, 1954 he married Mary Wotruba at St. Joseph's Church, Kellnersville, and celebrated 61 years of marriage, while living on the Ropson homestead since 1959 and enjoyed every bit of it. Ira spent 35 years working at Wisconsin Public Service retiring as a Supervisor and countless more years working on the farm raising a family of six children. He will always be remembered for his strength, spirit, work ethic and care he took for his family. Ira is survived by his wife, Mary and their five children, Sandra and Randy Phillips, Green Bay; Mary and Richard Streckenbach, Dyckesville; Ira Ropson and Paula Delassio- Ropson, PA.; Joseph Ropson and Chris McNabb-Ropson, NC; Gerald Ropson, Green Bay; seven grandchildren, Douglas and Daniel Phillips, Elizabeth Stevens, Matthew and Sara Streckenbach, Alex Ropson, Kellen McNabb-Ropson; three great grandchildren Brittany, Miranda and Kristina; one sister, Marilyn (William) Watson, MT.; five sisters in law, Ann Shimon, Betty Wotruba, both of Maribel; Carol Wotruba, Green Bay; Donna Morgan, Ripon; Virginia Ropson, Dyckesville; nieces and nephews. Ira was preceded in death by one son, Douglas Ropson; one great grandchild, Francis Charles; two brothers, Harold Ropson, Roy Ropson; one sister, Theresa (Donald) LeRoy; four brothers in law and two sisters in law, Donald Shimon, Lawrence (Arlene) Wotruba, Martin Wotruba, James (Beverly) Wotruba. Friends may call at St. Louis Church, Dyckesville, between 9:00 am to 10:45 am, Saturday, November 28, 2015. Funeral 11:00 am Saturday with Rev. John Van Deuren officiating.
