Alvin Victor Vaness, 89 of New Franken died Tuesday morning, January 19, 2016 at a local nursing home. He was born in Kewaunee County on September 02, 1926 to the late Victor F. and Emily (Vannes) Vaness. On November 02, 1950 he married Vernelda M. Jonet at St. Odile Church, Thiry Daems. Alvin was employed with Georgia Pacific until his retirement at age 62. He was a member of the Over The Hill Gang at Holy Cross Church. A simple man, always giving, Alvin was most proud of his donation of blood which began over three decades ago. He was an avid Packer fan, Brewer fan and enjoyed spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Vernelda and their son, David (Bonnie) Vaness, Green Bay; one grandson, Eric (Venessa) Vaness; two great granddaughters, Ellyssa and Evaya Vaness; two sisters, Noretta (friend Darwin) Fameree, Maribel; Geraldine (Jerry) Pigeon, Green Bay; one brother in law and one sister in law, Marvin Jonet, New Franken; Rose VandenHouten, Casco; many nieces and nephews. Alvin was preceded in death by, one brother, Edwin (Alvina) Vaness; three sisters, Gladys (Adolph) Mraz, Doris (Wilmer) Hoffman , LaVern (Cletus) Zellner; two brothers in law and two sisters in law, Wilfred (Virgil) Jonet, Wilfred VandenHouten and Caroline Jonet. Friends may call 9:15 am until 10:45 am, Friday, January 22, 2016 at Holy Cross Church, Bay Settlement. Funeral 11:00 am Friday, at the church, with Father Michael J. Weber O.Praem, officiating.
