Gertrude M. Doell, 95, DePere, formerly of Luxemburg, was called to her eternal home early Tuesday morning, March 15, 2016. She was born February 14, 1921 in Luxemburg to the late William H. and Adela (Pautz) Fager. Gertrude was a life long member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Montpelier, where she was baptized, confirmed, graduated from and married. On October 30, 1940 she married Arno B. Doell. Together they were blessed with four children. He preceded her in death June 15, 1994. Gertrude loved spending time with family above all else. She also enjoyed farming with her husband and making hundreds of quilts for World Relief, knitting caps for Bellin Hospital, Howe School and the Golden House. She would engage in a card game with family and friends. An avid gardener, she loved to cook and bake as well. Gertrude was a devout Christian who loved to read the Bible and many other Christian books. Survivors include her daughter, Shirley (Russell) Drake, DePere; four grandchildren, Debbie Nielsen (special friend, Mike Schultz), Dan Stodola, Amy Butterbrodt, Denise (Kevin) Adamczak; six great-grandchildren, Miranda, Breanna and Alana Adamczak, Aubrey, Andrea and Aleah Butterbrodt; three step-grandchildren, Todd (Nancy) Drake, Bret (Naomi) Drake, Laurie Drake; five step-great-grandchildren, Michelle (Aaron) Russell, Angela Drake, Thomas Drake, Erika Drake, Brandon (fiancée Ashli Weber) Dehn; five step-great-great-grandchildren, Tanner and Zachary Heslip, Ayden, Lyam and Kyler Dehn; two sisters in law, Melva Fager and Hilda Fager, both of Luxemburg; many nieces and nephews. Gertrude was preceded in death by three children, Janice, Margene and Neal Doell, two brothers, Milton Fager, Leonard Fager; two brothers in law and two sisters in law, Herbert (Elsie) Doell, Alvin (Verna) Doell. Friends may call at the McMAHON FUNERAL HOME, LUXEMBURG, 4:00 to 7:00 pm, Friday, March 18, 2016. Closing parish prayer service 7:00 pm on Friday. Visitation will continue between 9:30 and 10:45 am, Saturday, March 19, 2016 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Montpelier. Funeral 11:00 am, Saturday at the church with Rev. Dr. Daniel Olson officiating.
