Nicholas H. Salentine, 94 of Luxemburg, died Thursday morning, August 04, 2016 at a local hospital with his family at his side. He was born in Kewaunee County on September 06, 1921 to the late Bernard A. and Marie M. (Haen) Salentine. On September 24, 1947 he married Agnes Stella Fiala-Herlache in Kewaunee. She preceded him in death on January 14, 2014. He grew up on the family farm and managed it until 1975. He was a board member for the Ellisville Dairy Co-op and Supervisor for the Town of Luxemburg for many years. In his semi-retirement he hauled cheese for the Dairy Co-op until it closed and spent many years of seasonal work for the Theys Apple Orchard. He was a member of the Luxemburg Knights of Columbus, Catholic Order of Foresters, St. Mary Holy Name Society. He loved bus trips, planting and tending to his garden, pulling practical jokes, and driving the local ladies to the Senior Center. Survivors include his eight children, Jean (Myron) Rabas, New Franken; Marge (Ron) Ullman, Manitowoc; Jim (Mary) Salentine, Luxemburg; Ron (Carol) Salentine, Green Bay; Carol (Larry) Grimm, Kewaunee; Judy (Mike) Malcore, Algoma; Wayne (Sandy) Salentine, Pilsen; Jeff (Peggy) Salentine, Tennessee; 35 grandchildren; 74 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one sister, LaVerne Stodola, Pilsen; many nieces and nephews. Nick was preceded in death by three grandsons, Steven Rabas, twins, David and Doug Malcore; one great-grandson, Anthony Roznowski; two brothers in law, Clarence Stodola; Elmer (Suzie) Fiala. Friends may call at St. Mary Church, Luxemburg, 2:00 to 6:00 pm on Sunday, August 07, 2016. Parish prayer service 5:30 pm on Sunday. Visitation will continue between 9:30 to 10:45 am on Monday, August 08, 2016 at St. Mary Church, Luxemburg. Funeral 11:00 am. Monday at the church with Rev. Milton Suess officiating.
