Richard J. Lelou

September 19, 1930 — August 21, 2016

On Sunday, August 21, 2016 our Dad, Richard Joseph Lelou found peace in Heaven after a short illness. Our Dad was born to the late Arthur J. and Alice (Delveaux) Lelou on September 19, 1930 in Sugarbush, Wisconsin. He learned to work and play hard on the family farm with his 6 siblings. He was married to our mother Beverly Ann (Willame) on July 19, 1952, at St. Joseph Church in Champion. They recently celebrated 64 years of marriage. Dad was very proud of all of us and loved to tease us to tears as children and to embarrassment as adults. His oldest daughter, Dawn lives in Manitowoc with her husband Gene Matte. They have 2 children, 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. His son Rick (Richard Jr.) lives in Algoma and has a special friend Lisa Labecki. Rick has a beautiful daughter Katy who is married to Bill Emmett. They have 2 wonderful children, Hailey and Ethan. They also reside in Manitowoc. His daughter June lives in Bellevue with her husband Jeff Henrichs. The youngest in the family is Stacy who is married to Jim Glass. They reside in Green Bay. They have two beautiful daughters Taylor and Michaela. Dad was very happy to be their grandfather and great- grandfather. They were his pride and joy! His other pride and joy was his dog Buddy. Buddy has been missing the rough housing they would do. Our Dad is also survived by his older sister, Ione Massey, his youngest sister, Joyce Liebeck; sisters-in- law, Leona Lelou and Carol Lelou and numerous nieces and nephews. His was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ronald, and Marcien; sisters, Louise DeBaker, Rita Salzsieder; brothers in-law, Elmer Salzsieder, Darwin DeBaker, Ardeal " Buddy" Liebeck, Willard Massey; his father -in-law and mother in-law, Clarence and Lucy Willame and brother-in-law and sister- in-law Richard and Ann (Willame)Vincent. Dad worked at Packerland Packing in Green Bay for 33 years retiring in 1996. He loved to work and enjoyed gardening (Mom and Dad had the best garden around). He raised rabbits for 50 years supplying our table with fresh vegetables and hassenfefer. In summer you could often find our Dad resting on the patio in his bib overalls after an early morning picking of raspberries, strawberries or fruit from a variety of fruit trees or after tending to his rabbits. Many family and friends enjoyed the fruits of his labor. He loved to play cards especially cuyoo. He and Mom played in tournaments and leagues for many years. Dad was always happy to be around family and friends. The best way to describe our Dad was hardworking and fun-loving. When this part of him went away we knew his time with us was short. He was not happy when he had to give up raising his rabbits, working the garden, playing cards or helping Mom around the house. We know Dad. We love you and will miss you. Until we see you again “See the women climb the pole…”! If you knew our Dad’s sense of humor you will understand! Family and friends come celebrate our Dad’s life with us on Thursday, August 25, 2016 at McMAHON FUNERAL HOME, LUXEMBURG, 3 – 7 PM. Prayer service at 7:00 pm with Rev. Milton Suess. www.mcmahonfh.com. The family sends a special thanks to Unity Hospice Staff especially Nancy, Gwen, Nicki and Kate; neighbors Kevin Metzler, Wally and Donna Ferrier; Dr. Ryder and Amanda Shefchek; his sister, Joyce Liebeck. You were truly a blessing to our Dad and family. Thank you!
