Elmer C. Vandervest Elmer C. Vandervest, 91, Luxemburg, died early Friday morning, August 26, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born April 30, 1925 in Brown County to the late Jules and Lillian (Dupont) Vandervest. On July 10, 1948 he married Florence J. Renier at Robinson Church in Champion. She preceded him in death on March 31, 2008. Elmer operated a dairy farm in the town of Thiry Daems while employed at Northern Paper Mill. Elmer was a proud farmer and taught his family how to work and how to be successful. At the age of 91, he was still cutting his own lawn and kept a beautiful yard full of flowers. Survivors include six children, Jerry (Debbie) Vandervest, Luxemburg; Nick (Mary Ann) Vandervest, Kewaunee; Rick (Lynn) Vandervest, New Franken; Kevin (Mary) Vandervest, Green Bay; Mary Ann (Randy) Junion, Casco; Joann (Charlie) Dorner Kewaunee; 14 grandchildren; Tracy (Mike) Meyers, Jason Vandervest, Bobbi Jo Vandervest, Charity (Jeff) Hartjes, Renae (Adam) Schlies, Josh (Andrea) Vandervest, Erik (Amy) Vandervest, Dixie (Eric) Kinnard, Skyla Vandervest, Riley Vandervest, Brent (Ashley) Junion, Amy (Evan) Peiffer, Neil (Kelsey) Dorner, Marcia Dorner; 25 great-grandchildren; one brother and two sisters in law, Jim and Arlene Vandervest, New Franken; Jennie Vandervest, Green Bay; two brothers in law, Elmer Renier, Luxemburg; Russell Vincent, Crivitz; numerous nieces and nephews. Elmer is preceded in death by his wife Florence, one grandson, Brian Junion; one sister, Marie Renier; two brothers and one sister in law, Irwin Vandervest, Merrill and Evelyn Vandervest, one brother in law and two sisters in-law, Richard and Mamie Renier , Verna Vincent and a special family member, Billy Luedke. Friends may call at Harvest Community Church, E1479 Rockledge Road, Luxemburg, Wisconsin, 54217 for a celebration of Elmer's life on Sunday, August 28, 2016 between 2:00 and 5:30 pm. A special thank you to Debbie Vandervest who watched over Elmer, assisting him to continue to live in his own home, and his very close friend Tom Hansen who picked him up each week for “lunch with the men” and for other events. We are truly grateful for your support.
