Donald M. Kollross

March 24, 1933 — March 11, 2017

Donald "Doc" M. Kollross, 83 lifelong resident of Luxemburg, passed away March 11, 2017 in his home, a few days shy of his 84th birthday, where he wanted to be, surrounded by his family. The son of the late Nicholas and Alice (Mahlik) Kollross was born March 24, 1933 in Walhain. On October 16, 1957 Don married Jean M. Novak and together they would have celebrated 60 years of marriage this October. Doc joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1950 and proudly served in the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged, due to being wounded in action and was honored with two purple hearts for his bravery. He was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Church and a member of the American Legion Ralph Kline Post 262 Luxemburg. One of Doc's biggest enjoyments was going to the Luxemburg Speedway every Friday night, not only to see the races but to visit with friends. Doc was very involved in the construction of the original Luxemburg race track back in the early 60's and was a faithful supporter. Doc also enjoyed his many visits uptown to Simonar's where he met with his many friends to discuss everything from politics to the questionable future Mayor of Luxemburg along with discussing many old war stories. Along the way he would stop by Al the barber to reminisce with friends. He had the pleasure of family travel and enjoying his European trips with Jean. Doc worked for LCL Transport and construction with Boulanger, retiring with Dorner Stahl Construction. After retirement he worked for Jim Jadin Trucking. Doc and his wife also owned and operated Doc and Jean's Bar and Grill in Luxemburg where they enjoyed many good times with great patrons. Survivors include his wife, Jean and their 3 daughters, Kathy (Jeff) Tilkens, Green Bay; Mary Kollross (Brian Joski), Abrams; Kim (Steve) Woulf, New Franken; 7 grandchildren: Robby Ambrosius, Jenna (Nick) DeNoble, Jonnie Rae Lison, Nicole (Kris) LeDioyt, Joshua Buhr (Jenny Macgregor), Mason Woulf "The Butler" and Abbie Woulf; 5 great-grandchildren: Kiley, Ashlyn, and Charli DeNoble and Lily and Ivy LeDioyt; one brother Kenneth (Vonnie) Kollross and one sister Joanne Peronto; sister in laws Merle Peot, Bonnie (Jerry) Marcelle, Nancy (Dave) Mueller; and many nieces and nephews.
