Alvestine “Alvin” J. Kugel Alvestine "Alvin" J. Kugel, 91 of Pilsen died Monday morning, November 13, 2017. He was born in Kewaunee County on June 01, 1926 to the late Wencil “Vencil” and Anna (Pivonka) Kugel. Alvin served his country in the United States Army during WWII. He was a member of the American Legion Ralph Kline Post 262, Luxemburg. On June 04, 1947 Alvin married Anna I. Vanness at St. Hubert Church, Sugarbush. She preceded him in death on February 03, 1998. Together they farmed on the Kugel Family Farm and Alvin continued doing so until his final days. He also worked with Hruska and Co. as well as the Rendezvous for over 70 years taking care of the bowling alley. His enjoyments also included playing cards, hunting, fishing and watching the Packers. He is survived by six children, James (Bonnie) Kugel, Luxemburg; Janice Stodola, Denmark; Mary Ann Kugel, Luxemburg; Diane (Pete) Nackers, DePere; Michael Kugel, Luxemburg; Robert Kugel, Luxemburg; three grandchildren, Stacy (Kevin) Lampe; Robyn Hallet; Kyle Stodola; two great-grandchildren, Alysha Ferron; Katelin Ferron; two sisters, Evelyn Tielens, Sugarbush; Mary Ann Holtz, Two Rivers; sisters in law and brothers in law, Marie Marchant, Green Bay; Clarence Vanness, Kewaunee; Rose Mae (Louis) Schlies, Denmark; Lawrence (Janet) Vanness, Green Bay; Constant (Rose) Vanness, Green Bay; nieces and nephews. Alvin was preceded in death by, two grandchildren, Brian Kugel; Angela Stodola; one son in law, Wayne Stodola; one infant sister, Theresa Kugel; two brothers, Louis (Mildred) Kugel; John (Margaret) Kugel; four brothers in law and one sister in law, Kenneth Tielens; Leonard Holtz; Joseph Vanness; Clarence Marchant; Pat Vanness; his father in law and mother in law, Louis and Alice Vanness; special family friend, Jerome “Joe” Walton. Friends may call at McMAHON FUNERAL HOME, LUXEMBURG, 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday, November 17, 2017. American Legion Ralph Kline Post memorial service 6:00 pm. Parish prayer service at 6:15 pm with Christal Wavrunek. Visitation will continue between 9:30 and 10:45 am on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at St. Therese Parish, St. Joseph-St. John Site in Pilsen. Funeral 11:00 am on Saturday at the church with Rev. Dennis Drury officiating.
