Charles "Chuck" F Ostermeier

Charles “Chuck” Frederick Ostermeier, 48, of Slater, IA, passed away Monday August 10, 2020 at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN surrounded by “his girls” after a courageous battle with cancer. Chuck is survived by his beloved wife Gaylia; two daughters Loretta and Lillian; two brothers, Lawrence (Robin) of Kewaunee, WI and John (Holly) of Appleton, WI; and sister Mary (John) Otradovec of Kewaunee, WI. He is also survived by nieces and nephews: Emily, Abigail, Isabel, Benjamin, Amelia, Simon, Linus, and Jonah Ostermeier; Franklin and Henry Otradovec; and Winfred Gries Chuck was born January 12, 1972 in Geneseo, IL, to Charles Ostermeier and Carol Strnad. He graduated in 1990 from Luxemburg-Casco High School. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Systems Technology from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. While working for Case IH, he met his soul mate Gaylia Gries. Chuck later returned to school at Iowa State University, obtaining a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He began working as an Engineer for John Deere as an intern and then full time after graduation. Chuck was an active member of St. Malachy Parish and was a Fourth Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid mechanic and woodworker. He enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, and watching his girls swim. In light of social distancing, funeral services on Saturday August 15th at 11 a.m. at St. Malachy Catholic Church in Madrid, IA will be private. The service will be live-streamed beginning at 10:45 a.m. on the obituary at www.ilescares.com. Prayer Service and burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday August 18, 2020 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Casco, WI. There will be a visitation starting at noon in Wisconsin. The family would like to thank the staff at Mayo Clinic for their support as well as all those who have offered prayers and thoughts during this time.
