Dale J Davister

Dale J. Davister, 74, Humboldt, died unexpectedly Saturday morning, August 28, 2021, the result of a tractor accident. He was born November 28, 1946, in Green Bay to Dolores (Tilkens) Davister and the late Ardeal Davister. When Dale was six years old, his family moved to Sugarbush. Dale graduated from Luxemburg High School in 1964 and following graduation joined the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve. On October 1, 1966, Dale married Mary G. Treml at St. Mary Church, Luxemburg. He ran a dairy farm in Sugarbush until 1990 and owned a horse farm at present, holding a passion for horses and working with them since he was ten years old. He was employed with Servais Farm in high School and Michiel’s Masonry, where he learned the trade. In addition to farming Dale had been employed with P&G, Packerland Packing, Tom Malcore Masonry, then owning Davister Masonry, J.C. Basten & Boldt, retiring from the Mason’s Union in 2009. His last business adventure was with Mary, taking over his father’s dream, Davister’s Carriages partaking in parades, wagon and carriage rides for weddings which are still offered today. His wagon rides were a holiday tradition at the Botanical Garden of Lights for 25 years. Following his “retirement” he continued to give carriage rides, worked for Wery’s Dairy Aire, and loved tractor pulling adventures. Dale was a member of St. Thomas The Apostle Catholic Church, Frontier Farmers, Central WI Tractor Pullers, The Knights of Columbus, Safari Club Int’l. Other enjoyments included tractor pulling, originating the Sugarbush Tractor Pull in 1976, hunting, fishing, shooting pool, trap shooting, toy tractor and trophy collecting, visiting local chapels, and spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Mary, and their children, Denise (Robert) Stahl, Lisa (Robert) Wessel, all of Luxemburg; Dave (Tammy) Davister, Maryville, TN; Nicki (Kevin) Strebel, New Franken; ten grandchildren: Denise’s children, Jessica (Michael) Woulf, Will Stahl; Lisa’s children, Zach (Justina) Wessel, Bobbi Sue (fiancé, Phillip Vogels), Louie (Jessica Liebeck); Dave and Tammy’s children, Shawn and Renee Dollar; Nicki’s children, Tyler, Brody and Jordy Strebel; five great-grandchildren, Mickenzie, Madison & baby Wessel, Madeline & Jack Woulf; his mother, Dolores Davister; brothers and sisters, Fred (Bonnie) Davister, Sharon (Ken) Pieschek, Lynn (Len) Whipp; brothers in law and sisters in law, Ronnie Blahnik, Sister Johanna Treml, Reggie (John) Shutter, Pat Lufter, Ben (Barb) Treml, Victor (Linda) Treml, Rita (Darwin) DeGrave, Mark (Cindy) Treml, Roland (Jean) Treml, Terri (Bill) Jerabek, Kay (Gary) Grunwald; his godchildren, Cary Van Houten, Debbie Kroll, Missy Paul, Lane Whipp and Amy Grunwald; many nieces and nephews; his “buddies”, Ken Deprey and Mark Bader. Dale was preceded in death by his father, Ardeal Davister; two brothers, Glen Davister and Tony Davister; one sister, Sandy (Steve) Kielpikowski; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, George and Mayme Treml, three brothers in law, Paul Treml, Gene Blahnik and Butch Lufter. Friends and family may call 1:00 to 6:00 pm on Friday, September 3, 2021, at St. Thomas the Apostle Church (Sugarbush), 5930 Humboldt Road, Luxemburg. Closing parish prayer service 6:00 pm on Friday with Cheryl Maricque, Pastoral Minister. Visitation will continue between 9:00 and 10:45 am on Saturday, September 4, 2021, at St. Thomas The Apostle Church (Sugarbush). Funeral 11:00 on Saturday at the church with Rev. Carlo Villaluz officiating. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Humboldt. Please practice Covid -19 precautions to your comfort level when gathering.
