Donald J. Charles, 75, walked through the pearly gates on Thursday, February 4, 2021 at Unity Hospice with his family at his side, following a battle with dementia. He was born June 21, 1945 in Kewaunee to the late Joseph J. and Gertrude M. (Monfils) Charles. He served two years in the United States Army (1965-1967). He was employed with Bay Ship, Fett Construction and Van's Lumber until his retirement. On December 2, 1967, he married Jillaine M. Borley at Holy Trinity Church, Casco. Together they ran a small farm with their three children, Kathleen, Kenneth and Karla. He enjoyed creating wood working projects, hunting and ice fishing with family members and eating cookies! Donald will be missed by his wife, Jillaine of 53 years and their three children, Kathleen Charles, Kenneth Charles, Karla (Jonathan) Braun; five grandchildren, James (Cassie) Enea, Amanda (Trenton) Phillips, Sara (John "Boomer") Ditewig, Autumn and Wyatt Braun; one great grandson, Axl; siblings, Marvin (Janice) Charles, Judy (Bob) Gallagher, Diane (Dennis) Opicka; two sisters in law and one brother in law, Elaine Charles, Fran Charles, Ervin Kazik; Borley brothers in law and sisters in law, nieces, nephews and many friends further survive. Donald was preceded in death by his daughter in law, Jennifer Peer-Charles; siblings Myron Charles, Lee Charles, Karen Kazik; his father in law and mother in law, Earl and Dorothy Borley; other members of the Borley family. Friends may call at St. Hubert Church, Rosiere on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 between 9:30 and 10:45 am. Funeral 11:00 am on Tuesday at the church with Rev. Edward Looney officiating. Burial in St. Hubert Cemetery, Rosiere with full military rites at graveside provided by the American Legion Ralph Kline Post 262 of Luxemburg.
