Dorothy E Dahlke

  Dorothy E. Dahlke, DePere, died peacefully early in the morning on Monday, May 21, 2018 at the age of 97. She was a lifelong educator, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was born on January 28, 1921 to Fredrick and Ida (Dettman) Wolter in Forestville, WI. She grew up on a farm with her siblings who have all predeceased her: Leona Wolter, Helen Kohlmann, Clarence Wolter, Evelyn Wolter, Elsie Kaiser and Lawrence Wolter. Dorothy received her original teacher’s degree from Door-Kewaunee County Normal School. She went to California to teach at schools in the northern suburbs of Los Angeles. After several years there, she returned to Forestville and met Harvey F. Dahlke whom she married on October 25, 1952. She and Harvey lived on his family farm and raised three boys, James (Susan), Daniel (Nanette) and David (Darlene). She stressed the importance of education to her sons and grandchildren. She returned to teaching at Martinville school, a one-room, all grades elementary school west of Luxemburg, eventually teaching elementary school for the Luxemburg-Casco school district. Dorothy then received her Bachelors in Education from UW Oshkosh in 1970. She taught kindergarten for most of her career and enjoyed it immensely. Dorothy and Harvey retired in 1986 and remained on the farm for several years. They moved to a senior living apartment in DePere. Harvey died in 2008, and Dorothy remained in the apartment until she moved to Renaissance Assisted Living. She enjoyed family events with grandchildren Corey (Becky), Joshua (Nicole), Shawn (Kristin) and Jordan (Tracy), Benjamin (Karen), Tyler and Alyssa. She loved being with great-grandchildren Caleb, Brianna, Braxton, Brayden, Brody, Jacob, Penelope and Harvey. She will remain a great influence on all our lives. Friends may call at St. Paul Lutheran Church, (Montpelier) N4110 County Road AB, Luxemburg, Wi. 54217 on Thursday, May 24, 2018, between 9:00 and 10:45 am. Funeral 11:00 am at the church with Rev. Dr. Daniel Olson officiating.  Burial in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Montpelier.
