Evelyn D. Ropson, Luxemburg, following a full, healthy 103 years, was called home on August 7, 2023. She was born in Brown County on December 19, 1919, to the late Peter and Rachel (Collins) Du Jardin. On July 26, 1939, she married Gerald V. Ropson at Robinsonville Presbyterian Church in Champion. He preceded her in death on February 13, 2001. Together they raised two children on a dairy farm in Luxemburg. She was an avid bowler late into her 90’s. She loved to attend church services and sing during the celebrations. You could often find her polka dancing and singing around her kitchen table. She loved playing cards, was an amazing cook, loved family gatherings, and always seemed to have a pie ready if you stopped over. She enjoyed getting her hair done by Becky, on a weekly basis, dressing up and wearing jewelry. We all marveled at her strength and many accomplishments including bowling, sewing, her beautiful gardens (things always grew better at Grandma’s) and snow blowing her own driveway in her 90’s. She was a hard working woman, never complained, always held a positive attitude. Family was truly her greatest love, she laughed hard, and gave the best hugs. She will be greatly missed. Survivors include her two children Ronnie (Rose) Ropson, Bonnie (Larry) Eggert; five grandchildren Becky (Scott) Coppens, Bobbi (Mike) Larson, Tina (Tom) De Jardin, Penny Naniot, Nick Ropson; seven great-grandchildren Hope (Nathanael) Rella, Claire (James) Stahl, Albert Yelland, Robert Yelland, Jacob (Jessica) Yelland, Stephanie (fiancé Luke Salo) De Jardin, Kelly De Jardin; two great-great grandchildren Harrison Rella, Steven Yelland; one brother-in-law Roland (Carol) Ropson; nieces and nephews. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one great grandchild, Joshua Yelland; one grandson-in-law, Roger Naniot; three brothers and two sisters, two brothers-in-law and four sisters-in-law. Friends may call between 2:15 and 4:15 p.m. at the McMahon Funeral Home, Luxemburg, on Monday, August 14, 2023. Funeral Service 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
