Gertrude M. Waterstreet (Mrs. Norbert Waterstreet), 84, Luxemburg, was welcomed into God’s presence on Monday, June 25, 2018. She arrived on December 23, 1933 as an early Christmas present to the late Elmond and Ruth (Ihlenfeld) Dahlke. Gertrude married Norbert Waterstreet on August 24, 1963 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Montpelier. He preceded her in death on March 07, 2009. She was a long-time organist at St. Paul Lutheran Church and was a member of the Gideon’s Auxiliary. Before arthritis took away her ability to make music, she would play polkas and waltzes on her accordion and piano for her kids and grandkids to dance to. She enjoyed playing Scrabble and card games and never missed “Molly B’s Polka Party” and Larry’s Country Diner” on Saturday nights. Gert passed along helpful German to her grandkids like greetings, counting and naughty words. While dementia stole much of her short-term memory, she could still reminisce over old photos and scrapbooks and loved to make conversation. Her granddaughter, Sophia said it best, “It doesn’t matter if she can remember us. All that matters is that we love her and she loves us.” Survivors include her children, Joy (Rob) Warner; Faith (Bob) Herber; Hope Waterstreet; six grandchildren, Kirsten and Zane Warner; Vince, Sierra, Sophia and Piper Herber; brother in law, Calvin (Cindy) Johnson; her niece, Terre (Mark) Tengowski; her nephew, Chris (Megan) Johnson. She was preceded in death by an infant brother, Gordon; one sister in law, Marjorie Johnson. Friends may call at St. Paul Lutheran Church, N4110 County Road AB, Luxemburg, WI 54217, between 9:30 and 10:45 am on Saturday, July 14, 2018. Funeral 11:00 am with Rev. Dr. Daniel Olson officiating.
