Gloria Jean Cherney, 78, passed away peacefully, surrounded by love on April 16, 2025. She's a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Gloria was known for her warm heart, gentle spirit and deep devotion to her family, friends and traditions.
Born in Kewaunee, WI on September 19, 1946, to Simon and Rosalie (Schaden) Sevcik, Gloria carried the values of her upbringing throughout her life - hard work, perseverance, kindness and humility. She was devoted to preserving the traditions that mattered most, from holiday recipes passed down through generations to stories shared around the kitchen table. Her kitchen was a place of comfort, filled with the rich aromas of home-cooked meals and laughter. Gloria's legacy is one of kindness, care, quiet strength and whose presence made every gathering feel like home - a life rooted in boundless love.
Gloria spent her time helping on the family farm, preserving the abundance of homegrown fruits and vegetables, playing cards with family and friends, gambling at the casino, and daily word puzzles. She enjoyed going out to dinner with friends and siblings, family trips to Alaska and Mexico, and annual trips to Arizona with Rod.
She graduated from Kewaunee High School in 1964 where she met the love of her life, Rodney Cherney. Gloria married Rod on July 31, 1965, at Holy Rosary in Kewaunee.
Gloria is survived by her husband of 60 years, Rodney Cherney; daughter, Dawn (Tim) Reissmann; daughter-in-law, Tracy Cherney (Brian Fredrick); granddaughters, Kristen (Josh) Konner and Alecia Cherney (Marcus Pribyl); great grand dog Luca; and siblings, Yvonne Maccoux, Diane (Ray) Korinek, Don (Mary) Sevcik, Dave (Ann) Sevcik, Sr Patricia Sevcik, Ken Sevcik; in-laws, Lyle (Jean) Cherney; and many nieces and nephews who will forever cherish her memory.
