Ida H Alsteen

Ida Alsteen   Ida Alsteen, 98, of Luxemburg, passed away on Thursday, December 27, 2018. She was born in the Town of Gardner on July 13, 1920, to the late Frank and Julia (Jadin) Jauquet. On October 18, 1938, she married James Alsteen in Namur, WI; he preceded her in death on August 3, 1978.Ida was a life-long resident of the area and farmed with her husband on the family dairy farm in Tonet for many years before moving to Luxemburg in 1974. She was employed by the Luxemburg-Casco School District until her retirement.  Ida was a faithful member of St Mary Church and of the Christian Mothers Society; praying the rosary was an integral part of her life. She was a very loving and caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and friend to everyone that knew her.  She will always be remembered for her buckets of cookies and wonderful pies, and her love for Polka dancing and playing cards.Survivors include her daughter: Rose Marie Nelson of Mishicot; five grandchildren: Glenn Jr. (Deb) Nelson of Oshkosh, Michael (Brenda) Nelson of Neenah, Susan Sprackling of Sparta, Kim (John) Gualtieri of Stillwater, MN and Greg (Rose) Nelson of Slinger; twelve great grandchildren: Bryce (Kelley), Ryan (Kelsey), Carley, Lucas, Casey, Ben, Michaela, Austin, Alec, Grace, Alex and Alden; two brothers: Al (Rena) Jauquet, Green Bay and Francis (Rita) Jauquet, Casco; a sister-in-law: Lucy Jauquet, New Franken; nieces and nephews; and special neighbors Janice Alsteen and the John Pilgrim family.    She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son-in-law, Glenn Nelson Sr. and two brothers and three sisters: George (Verna) Jauquet, John Jauquet; Jennie (Roland) Delfosse, Josie (Bill) Destree, and Florence (Earl) Vanden Avond. Friends may call at St. Mary Church, Luxemburg, 9:00 to 10:45 am on Wednesday, January 02, 2019.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am with the Reverend Daniel Schuster officiating.  Entombment in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum.
