James "Jim" C. Johnson, 76, of New Franken, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday, September 4, 2024. Jim was born in Norway, MI on September 11, 1947, to the late Clarence "Bic" Johnson and Ethel (Lundamo) Johnson.
Jim graduated from Kingsford High School and attended college in Upper Michigan. He was drafted into the United States Army and served in Vietnam. He was a lifelong member of the Oneida VFW Post 7787. Jim was employed at Caterpillar in Chicago, Il for a time. He later worked as a welder at Lake Shore, and at the Niagara Paper Mill, and Bargland Trucking. Jim enjoyed fishing and camping, as well as cheering for the Chicago Cubs and the Green Bay Packers.
Survivors include his wife Frances "Francie" M. Freeberg-Johnson; his children James (Kelly) Johnson, Jodi (Tom) Milner, and Jennifer Bailey; grandchildren Marinn Johnson, Connor Johnson, and Catherine Bailey; step children Rose Fast, Chuck (Debbie) Van Roy, Paul (Erika) Van Roy, Carla Van Roy, and Candy (Steve) Wilke; step grandchildren Emily and Abbigael Van Roy, Autumn Rank, Eddie, Bobby, and JoJo Van Roy, Danielle Van Lanen, Caitlyn Rome, Lauren Wilke, and Jenna Wilke; step great grandchild Sylvia Rome; sister Peggy Olsen; special cousins Duane and Ron Lundamo; members of the Clark Family, Van Roy Family, Jauquet Family, and the Lecnor-Freeberg Family.
Jim was preceded in death by his first wife Karen Johnson and infant daughter Brenda Johnson both on June 8, 1971; and his wife Carolyn Jauquet Johnson on June 14, 2021; one stepson in law Jim Fast.
McMahon Funeral Home Luxemburg is assisting the Johnson Family.
Friends may call between 9:30 and 11:15 am on Friday, September 27, 2024, at Holy Cross Church, Bay Settlement. Funeral 11:30 am at the church with Abbot Gary Neville O. Praem. officiating. Full military rites will follow the funeral mass.
