Janice M Thiry

July 27, 1939 — December 16, 2020

Janice M. Thiry, 81 of Green Bay, formerly of Luxemburg, passed away on Wednesday morning, December 16, 2020. She was born on July 27, 1939 to the late Goldie E. and Stella J. (Cravillion) Dalebroux. On June 30, 1962 she married Constant “Connie” J. Thiry at St. Odile Church, Thiry Daems. He preceded her in death on April 9, 1978. Jan was very active, full of energy, a real jokester. You had to pay close attention to her when she was around, you may end up her next target of a fun practical joke. She was a fulltime employee of St. Vincent Hospital up until her 80th birthday, when her family finally convinced her to take a step back and slow down. She was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers, passing the love for the Packers down to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. One of her favorite pastimes was to play Cuyoo with her siblings, usually ending up in playful arguments, throwing the cards in asking the question “What did you go with?” resulting in getting the dreaded “red chip”! Survivors include her children, Heidi (Scott) VandenAvond, David (Jen) Thiry, Dan Thiry, Stacy (fiancé Scott Potts) Rohr; grandchildren, Amanda (Matt), Danielle (Ben), Steve (Amanda), Jordan (friend, Maddie), Ethan, Amber (friend, Joel), Hanna and Ben; eight great grandchildren (her pride and joy); brothers, Don (Laverne) Dalebroux, Gene (Joni) Dalebroux, Steve (Eileen) Dalebroux; one brother in law, Ken (Judy) Thiry; nieces and nephews. Janice was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one infant daughter, Susie Thiry; one sister, Kathy Dalebroux; her father in law and mother in law, Gus and Laura Thiry; one niece, Robin Dalebroux. A private funeral Mass will be celebrated, 11:00 am on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Green Bay, with Rev. Dennis Ryan officiating and Deacon Jeff Prickette as the Homilist. The Mass will be livestreamed on the Prince of Peace Facebook page: popgb54311. Burial in Thiry Daems Cemetery in the Town of Red River. McMAHON FUNERAL HOME, LUXEMBURG, is assisting the Thiry Family. www.mcmahonfh.com
