John Chester Phillips, 92, Green Bay, died Thursday, May 9, 2024, at the McCormick Home Assisted Living. He was born October 10, 1931, in the Town of Humboldt to the late Leonard P. and Elsie M. (Panure) Phillips. John was a graduate of DePere High School, Class of 1950. Following graduation, he went off to work on a farm. John later began his career in the paper industry with Procter and Gamble, as a Quality Control Tech, for thirty years. Following his retirement in 1991 his time was spent selling insurance, cemetery property, and spending time with family and friends. John met his wife, Millie Metzler and they became a union on October 21, 1950, together raised five children, and celebrated 73 years of marriage. He was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters, and the Holy Name Society and St. Mary Church in Luxemburg. Survivors include his wife, Millie; his daughters Diana (Bob) Fine, Kathy (Dennis) Bouche; his sons David (Lori) Phillips, Glenn (Barb) Phillips, Kelly Phillips; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; one sister Nancy Nowak; sister in law Elaine (Elroy) Kaster; brother in law Hub Metzler; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends further survive. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his siblings, infant sister Elizabeth, Bob (Ruth) Phillips, Norman (Gloria) Phillips, Jerry Phillips, Vern Phillips, Elroy Phillips, Elaine VerHeyen; brother in law Bill Nowak; sister in law Mary Metzler; his father in law and mother in law Edward and Mabel Metzler. Friends may call at St. Mary Church, Luxemburg, between 8:30 and 10:45 am on Saturday, May 18, 2024. Funeral Mass at 11:00 am with Rev. Daniel Schuster officiating. Entombment in Allouez Chapel Mausoleum.
