Lawrence "Larry" J. Vickman, 85, of Sugar Bush, passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2024. He was born in Brown County on August 9, 1939, to the late Joseph F. and Sylvia M. (Husnik) Vickman. He was a 1957 graduate of Luxemburg High School. Larry served his country in the United States Army Reserves. On May 7, 1960, he married Jacqueline A. Retzlaff at Holy Martyrs of Gorcum Church. She preceded him in death on June 4, 2024. While running the family homestead farm in Sugar Bush, Larry was employed with De Keyser Construction for 15 years and Dorner-Stahl Construction for over 20 years. Following retirement, he never could sit still, this is when he worked at Dairyland Dairy (Larry Dufek) for an additional ten years. His enjoyments included fishing, deer hunting and playing cards.
Survivors include his five children, Shelley (Ed) Wendt, Bellevue; Jody (Larry) Wypishinski, Eaton; Douglas (Jill Kruse) Vickman, Stangelville; Jennifer (Eric) Krause, Marion; Tina Vickman, Sugar Bush; as well as several grandchildren and great grandchildren; one sister and one brother in law, Betty Jane and Jack Ravet, Sugar Bush; nieces and nephews; as well as Retzlaff Family brothers in law and sisters in law.
Larry was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, his infant daughter Angela Marie Vickman; two brothers in law and one sister in law; his father in law and mother in law John and Ada Retzlaff.
Friends may call at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Sugar Bush, between 9:00 and 10:45 am on Thursday, December 26, 2024. Funeral 11:00 am on Thursday at the church with Rev. Patrick Beno officiating. Full military honors with be provided by the American Legion Ralph Kline Post 262, following the funeral Mass. Entombment at the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum, Green Bay.
