Leland “Lee” Hubert Baenen, 91, passed away Friday, March 15, 2024, at his home with family & friends at his side. He was born August 24, 1932, on the family dairy farm in the Town of Scott, Bay Settlement/New Franken, Wisconsin. His parents were the late John Hubert & Viola (Naniot) Baenen. He married Doreen Ann Green on June 4, 1960, at Saints Peter & Paul Church in Green Bay. Doreen preceded his death on October 3, 2013. Leland attended Holy Cross School in Bay Settlement, later taking over the family farm when his father passed away and farmed until 1996, which at that time, his son Brian took over the family farm until May 2022. Leland was a proud man of many things. He was a Brown County Auxiliary Police Officer and worked for years at the Packer Games. He always talked about the important roll he held on the day of the Ice Bowl, which USA Today Network-Wisconsin, did an article on the job he had to do on that cold day at Lambeau. He volunteered at Paul’s Pantry, he had an amazing Beer Can Collection that Channel 2 with Jeff Alexander, did his Small-Towns Report on Leland’s Beer Can Collection. Leland served over forty years as Town Constable for the Town of Scott. However, he was most proud of his family. Leland is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Debra Lee (Leonard “Lee”) VandenLangenberg and his son Brian Leland Baenen, all of New Franken, Wisconsin. Four grandchildren: Orrie (Kelly) VandenLangenberg, Grafton; Jay (Taji) Ludic-VandenLangenberg, Albuquerque, New Mexico; Onna VandenLangenberg (Partner Amber), Green Bay, Julia VandenLangenberg, New Franken; brother & sister-in-law; Merlin (Fatima) Baenen; sister Margie Boucher; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Doreen A. (Green) Baenen; sisters; Marcella (Walter) Kleczka; Catherine (Norbert) Geritts; Clara (Roy) Seroogy; Virginia (Gerald) Konshak; Josephine Baenen; brother John (Dora) Baenen; brother-in-law Jerry Boucher; Doreen’s parents, Arthur Berneil Green and Julia Marie (Rose) Green. Friends may call between 3:00 and 6:45 pm on Friday, March 22, 2024, at Holy Cross Church in Bay Settlement. Funeral 7:00 pm on Friday with Abbot Gary Neville O. Praem. officiating. Entombment in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum, Green Bay. In lieu of floral tributes and other expressions of sympathy, a memorial fund will be established in the name of Leland H. Baenen. The family would like to thank Unity Hospice, especially Ashley, Amy & Jessica for their wonderful kind help at the end of Leland’s life.
