Leo P. Gomand, 77, New Franken, died late Wednesday evening, October 30, 2024, with his daughter at his side. He was born in Green Bay on May 11, 1947, to the late Eddie J. and Agnes C. (Charlier) Gomand. He was a graduate of Luxemburg High School. On September 4, 1971, Leo and Janice M. Strebel were married at St. Kilian Church in New Franken. She preceded him in death on July 2, 1973. Leo helped run the family farm in the Champion area and was employed with Hoida Lumber Co. until his retirement in 1998. He served his country in the United States Army and was a member of the American Legion Ralph Kline Post 262 in Luxemburg. One of his greatest highlights was carrying the American Flag in local parades. Leo enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, and was a member of the New Franken Sportsman Club. Most of all, Leo loved spending time with his grandchildren, they were his everything!
Survivors include his daughter and son in law, Christine Gomand Maternowski (Aaron), New Franken; two grandchildren, Jaina and Rand; one sister in law, Shirley Gomand, Champion; sisters in law and brothers in law of the Strebel Family; nieces and nephews.
Leo was preceded in death by his wife, Janice; his parents Eddie and Agnes Gomand; one brother Louis Gomand; one sister Marie DeBauche.
Friends may call between 9:00 and 10:45 am on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at St. Joseph Church, Champion. Funeral service 11:00 am on Wednesday with Rev. Patrick Beno officiating. Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Champion with full military rites at graveside provided by the American Legion Ralph Kline Post 262.
