Marvin W. Gaedtke, 95, of Luxemburg passed away at Atrium Post Acute Care in Kewaunee, surrounded by his family on July 10, 2018. He was born in the Town of Montpelier to the late Edwin and Amanda (Doell) Gaedtke on February 12, 1923. On May 27, 1944 Marvin married Norma L. Kudick at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Montpelier. They were married for 67 years when she preceded him in death on September 15, 2011. Marvin began his career with Louis Ledvina as a milk truck driver for Ellisville Dairy. He also owned his own milk truck and drove for Krohn Dairy. He worked for Kewaunee Equipment. Marvin drove truck for Kewaunee Bottling for 30 years until his retirement. He served as a Kewaunee County Deputy Sherriff for 12 years. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Montpelier where he served as an Elder, Treasurer of the St. Paul Building Fund at St. Paul Lutheran Church and Parsonage, as well as several other church associated jobs. He was an active participant of the St. Paul Choir and loved music. Marvin enjoyed playing in polka bands with Joe Karmen, Gordy Reckelberg, the 4F’s, Lee Rollins and Ray Rollins Band. He was once honored for musician of the year in the mid 1990’s. Marvin took most pride and enjoyment in running the home farm with his wife, son, grandchildren and great-grandchildren by his side. His hobbies included going for car rides with his wife, listening to, playing or dancing to polka music. Survivors include one son, Jerome (Wanda) Gaedtke, Luxemburg; one granddaughter, Kim (Duke) Kroll; two grandsons, Kevin (Debbie) Gaedtke; Scott (Dawn) Gaedtke; nine great-grandchildren, Mercedes, Blake and Jadelynn Kroll; Hailey and Kiley Gaedtke; Justin (special friend Brooke), Jonathon, Alexys and Alisa Gaedtke; one sister in law, Marian Gaedtke, Luxemburg; nieces, nephews and many friends. Marvin was preceded in death by two brothers, Melvin Gaedtke; Sylvester (Bertha) Gaedtke; one sister, Vernetta (Edward) Bosdeck; one nephew, Wayne Bosdeck. Visitation will continue 9:45 to 10:45 am on Monday, July 16, 2018 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Montpelier. Funeral 11:00 am on Monday at the church with Rev. Dr. Daniel Olson officiating.
